Heidi Joe Smith, infant daughter of Wes and Paige Harrison Smith, residents of Horatio, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014 in Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Little Rock.

She was born in Texarkana, Texas on Sept. 2, 2014 and attended the Old Time Gospel Church at Lockesburg.

Graveside funeral was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014 in West Otis Cemetery with Bro. Jerrel Helms officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Thelma D. Ashley
Thelma D. Ashley, age 82, a resident of Sweetwater, Okla., and former resident of Sevier County, died Saturday, Sept. 13 at Sweetwater.
She was born Jan. 24, 1932 in Cheyenne, Okla., to Emma and L. Mark Davis.

The family received guests at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15. Services were held Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Elk City First Assembly of God officiated by Pastor Jimmy Keith and Bro. Ray Smart. Burial followed at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17 at Marlow Cemetery, under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.

Mrs. Angie Mae Almond Long, age 95, a resident of De Queen, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014 in the De Queen Medical Center.
She was born July 3, 1919 to Aaron Hartman and Ollie Mae Martin Almond in Gillham.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2014 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jason Carlton officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

William P. Copeland
William Paul Copeland, age 77, a resident of Leland, MS, and former resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014 at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville, due to complications following colon cancer.
He was born May 23, 1937 in Nashville to Florence Rebecca McClure and William Calvin Copeland. He was a graduate of Nashville High School and attended Henderson State University. While in De Queen he was employed by Terminix. He retired in 2005 from Farmers Grain Terminal.

Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014 at Leland-Stoneville Cemetery in Stoneville, MS with Chris Howell, minister, officiating, under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Inc.

Martha J. Willbanks
Mrs. Martha Joyce McDonald Willbanks, age 58, a resident of Texarkana, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2014 in Little Rock.
She was born April 10, 1956 in Adrian, GA. She was a bus driver for Texarkana Arkansas School District.

Funeral services were held at 4:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, 2014 in the Lewis Temple Church of God in De Queen with Rev. E.A. Edwards officiating. Burial followed in the Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family received friends from 2-3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8 at the funeral home.

Christine Y. McKinney
Christine Y. Price Smith McKinney, age 77, a resident of Tahlequah, Okla., died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014 following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Broken Bow, Okla., Sept. 29, 1936. She was an OB/GYN RN in Medford, Ore., and worked as a cook at De Queen High School in De Queen before returning to nursing as a certified Respiratory Therapist and certified to do brain scans at the De Queen hospital.
She was co-founder of Grief Support, member of First Responders, DEM (Disaster Environmental Management) and Storm Chasers in Siloam Springs.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Grace Living Center, 601 East Cherrie Street, Tahlequah, Okla., under the direction of Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah.

Barbara J. Poindexter
Barbara Jean Poindexter, age 76, a resident of Gillham, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014 at her home.
She was born July 6, 1938 in Warren, Ohio. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Gillham.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014 in the First Baptist Church of Gillham with Bro. Homer Frachiseur officiating. Cremation arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Robert M. McKinney
Robert Michael “Mike” McKinney, age 47, a resident of McKinney, Texas and former resident of De Queen, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2014.
He was born in Shreveport, La. July 17, 1967. He attended college at the University of Texas in Arlington. He was President and CEO of his company, comHAUS, a marketing communications firm he founded in 1999.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Daryl Dyer officiating. Cremation followed.
The family received friends from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Ray Kirkpatrick
Lloyd Ray Kirkpatrick, a resident of Gillham, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014 from injuries received in an automobile accident.
He was born Aug. 29, 1947 in Springfield, Ill. He was a retired brick mason.

Mrs. Glenda Darlene Frachiseur Stark, age 68, a resident of De Queen, died Monday, September 1, 2014, at her home.
She was born December 19, 1945 in Mineral Wells, Texas. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Mrs. Artie Parrish
Mrs. Artie V. Parrish, age 87, a resident of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014 in the Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.
She was born Oct. 17, 1926 in Alpine.

She was a daughter of Arlie and Lela Buck Francis of Alpine. She received a master’s degree in education from Henderson State University. She taught fourth grade at Amity and White Hall for a total of 36 years. She retired from Moody Elementary in 1985.

Graveside funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014 in the Old Center Cemetery with Jerry Fagan officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Jimmy Newton
Jimmy Clayton Newton, age 61, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014.
He was born March 23, 1953 in Ashdown to J.D. and Cora Mears Newton. He was a member of the Provo Volunteer Fire Department, an EMT and active in Little League as an umpire. He served as a Hunters Ed Instructor and worked for Weyerhaeuser and Coca Cola. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Fort Towson, Okla., served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and was a Christian.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Fry officiating. Burial with Masonic rites followed in the McHorse Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Walter A. Vaughn
Walter Anglin Vaughn, age 68, a resident of Horatio, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014 at his home.
He was born July 29, 1946 in Shawnee, Okla. He worked construction and was an ordained chaplain and preacher. He attended the Mt. Phoebia Baptist Church and the Solid Rock Full Gospel Church in Horatio and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Vietnam.

Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014 in the Redmen Cemetery with Rev. Davis officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
