George McNully
George Lemuel “Poppa” McNully, age 82, a resident of Shady Point, Okla., died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014 in Fort Smith.

He was born Feb. 22, 1932 in Horatio to Roy “Sammy” and Lucy V. Moore McNully. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served in Korea. He was an ordained minister, taught school, was a welder and also worked in construction.

Visitation was held from 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014 at Bethel Lighthouse Church in Panama, Okla., followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Okla..

Myrah Thomasson
Myrah Elvada Thomasson, age 73, a resident of New Boston, Texas, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014 in a Texarkana hospital.

She was born Oct. 8, 1941 in Mineral. She was retired from Frito-Lay Inc., and was a member of Journey Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Thomasson and a brother, Lawson Whitley.

Visitation was held from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Alma Pool
Mrs. Alma Angeline Taylor Pickens Pool, age 93, a resident of Lockesburg, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014.

She was born to Earl and Annie Jones Taylor in Foreman May 30, 1921. She was a member of Lockesburg Methodist Church and also attended Milford Church. She was a homemaker and a member of the De Queen Hospital Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 in the First United Methodist Church of Lockesburg with Rev. Terry Chapman and Rev. Tommy Halsell officiating.

Burial will follow in the Lockesburg Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.

Joe Willis
Emmitt Joe Willis, age 79, a resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014 in Mena.

He was born to Emmitt and Effous M. Wolf Willis July 4, 1935 in Willis Springs, Okla. He served in the military with 101st Air Borne in the U.S. Army and later in the National Guard. He was an entrepreneur in land, timber, sawmilling and building. He was a Christian.

Visitation was held Thursday, Oct. 9 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2014 in the First Assembly of God Church, De Queen, with Pastor Lankford Moore officiating. Private burial followed.

Thomas Theodore Michaels, age 68, a resident of Lockesburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014 at his home.

He was born to Theodore and Marie Agnes Durkowski Michalowski on Aug. 16, 1946 in Albuquerque, NM. He was retired from the U.S. Marines and also worked in management after the military.

Dr. Manuel Hensley
Dr. Manuel Hensley was born Dec. 20, 1934 to Jake and Myrtle (Sutton) Hensley in Frog Level, and passed away Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014 in the Angelwood Assisted Living Center in Clinton, Okla.

He was a 1952 graduate of De Queen High School, and a 1965 graduate of Oklahoma University Medical School, served four years in the U.S. Air Force was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Enid, Okla.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Donald Bowman officiating. Burial followed in Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Marjorie “Margie” Pond, age 83, a resident of Foreman, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2014 in Ashdown.

She was born March 5, 1931 in Cumberland, Okla. She was a homemaker and a Christian.

Mrs. Brenda Joy McGlaun Roberts, age 72, a resident of De Queen, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2014 in De Queen Medical Center.

She was born to Robert Henry and Opal Faye Humphries McGlaun on Oct. 23, 1941, in Mabank, Texas. She was a retired security guard as well as a homemaker.

Eura Dean Dunagan
Eura Dean Dunagan, age 77, a resident of Watson, Okla., died Monday, Oct. 6, 2014 in Mena.
He was born on Thursday, Aug. 19, 1937 to Frank Benton and Mary Maude Smith Dunagan in Watson, Okla. He served his country in the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged. He worked 18 years for Alltel serving south Polk County, Arkansas and McCurtain County, Oklahoma, as well as a small business owner for many years. He was a longtime board member and overseer of West View Cemetery in Cove.

Graveside services will be Saturday Oct. 11, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the West View Cemetery at Cove with Brother Lance Ashmore officiating. Visitation will be general at the Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena.
