Mrs. Inez Parsons Smith, 103, of Umpire died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017 in Dierks Health and Rehab.
She was born Dec. 3, 1913 to Samuel W. and Nettie L. Gordon Parsons. She was a farmer, a homemaker and a member of Midway Church of Christ.
Funeral services were held Sept. 30 in Midway Church of Christ with Danny White officiating. Burial followed in Saline Cemetery.

Esther Benefield
Mrs. Esther Fern Lambeth Benefield, 88, of Mena and a former resident of De Queen died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017 in Bear Creek Healthcare in De Queen.
She was born to Wallace R. and Bernice Stewart Lambert on July 10, 1929. She was a member of Beacon Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church and a homemaker.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7 in Beacon Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church, De Queen, with Newman Hance officiating.

Mrs. Leona Cooper Grinage, 94, of Haworth, Okla., died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017 in Retreat at Kenwood in Texarkana, Tex.
She was born Sept. 4, 1923 in Cerro Gordo. She was a homemaker and a life-long member of State Line Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Oct. 4 in State Line Baptist Church in Cerro Gordo. Burial followed in Pauley Cemetery, Winthrop.

Mrs. Mae Velma Smith Turner, 88, of De Queen died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017 in Mena Regional Center.
She was born to Perry Lee and Eva Belle Reynolds Smith in De Queen on March 17, 1929. She was a member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Mrs. LaJuana Jean Gilliam Wildey, 70, of De Queen died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017 in Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Tex.
She was born to Carroll Edward and Oleta Hood Gilliam in Mena on April 29, 1947. She was a homemaker and a member of Williamson Community Church in Horatio.

William J. Branson
William Jasper Branson was born Sept. 11, 1920, to Ben and Nancy Branson of Gillham and died Sept. 23, 2017.
He graduated from Gillham High School and served as a sergeant in World War II.
He was a Mason and a former Mayor of Gillham where he was instrumental in the formation of the Gillham Water Department , city park and volunteer fire department.
Services were held Sept. 28 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen. Burial followed in the Cossatot Cemetery with Bobby Tatum officiating.

Mrs. Shirley Clardy
Mrs. Shirley B. Bell Clardy, 69, of Lockesburg died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017 at the home of her daughter in Texarkana.
She was born to Clementon Richardson and Fay Bell Mitchell in Lockesburg on Sept. 17, 1947. She was a 1965 graduate of North High School in Wichita, Kan. She was a medical records clerk for the De Queen Medical Center for over 40 years as well as a homemaker. She was a member of the Macedonia United Methodist Church of Lockesburg.
Funeral services were held Sept. 20 in the First Baptist Church of Lockesburg with Rev. Reginald Russell officiating. Burial followed in the Holly Springs Cemetery, Lockesburg.

Jack Bennett, Jr. ,68, formerly of Muncie, Ind. died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, at his daughter’s home in De Queen.
He was born Nov. 26, 1948, in De Queen. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 32 years. He served as a Deacon at Christ Temple Global Ministries in Muncie.
Funeral services for Mr. Bennett will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 16, in the New Zion Baptist Church in De Queen with Rev. Jesse Miller and Elder Richard Carr officiating. Burial will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m Friday, Sept. 15 at the funeral home.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of De Queen. He was an independent owner/operator truck driver contracted with Frozen Food Express until his retirement.
