Mrs. Joyce Hammer
Mrs. Joyce Lee Morris Hargis Hammer died May 20 from complications of Alzheimer's disease.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Gillham. She was owner and manager of Hammer and Hargis Trucking and a former employee of Turnwood's Restaurant and Weyerhaeuser.
Graveside funeral services were held May 23 at Overturf Cemetery, Gillham, with Scott O'Rear officiating.

Joshua Lane Dyas, age 31, a resident of Lockesburg died May 15 at the De Queen Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 11, 1985, in De Queen. He was a carpenter and a U.S. Navy Veteran.
A graveside memorial service was held May 20 at Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Wilma Lee Johnson Jewkes, age 88, a resident of De Queen, died May 10 at her home.
She was born Sept. 3, 1927, in Lockesburg. She was a homemaker and a Methodist.

Lottie Jane Morris, age 86, a resident of Gillham died May 10 in De Queen.
She was born March 11, 1930, in Nashville. She was a nurse's aide and a member of the De Queen Church of Christ.

Jerry D. White
Jerry Don White, age 74, a resident of Wickes and formerly of Grand Prairie, Texas, died Saturday, May 14, in Mena.
He was born Nov. 10, 1941 in Durant, Okla. He worked in construction and was a cement finisher. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2016 in the Crystal Hill Cemetery in Wickes, with Jon Newlin and Chris Burke officiating.

Linda Williamson
Mrs. Linda Lou Wormington Williamson, age 63, a resident of Dierks died May 16, in Little Rock.
She was born Jan. 3, 1953. She was a LPN as well as a homemaker. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Dierks.
Funeral services were held May 21, at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. J.W. Gilbert officiating.
Burial followed in Section Cemetery near Athens.

Charline Dodson Coulter
Charline Dodson Coulter passed away Monday, May 2. She was born July 13, 1925 in Wright City, Okla. and currently resided in Little Rock.
Charline was a former resident of Daingerfield, Texas and also lived in Longview, Texas, Hot Springs, Lockesburg, and De Queen. She was an educator who taught in Mount Ida, Hughes, Springs, Texas and Daingerfield, Texas.
A graveside memorial service was held at Coulter Memorial Cemetery in Lockesburg May 14.

James Lee Davis, age 64, a resident of Lockesburg, died May 3 peacefully at his home.
He was born to James Dickey and Dorothy Jean Yancey Davis in Harrisburg Feb. 1, 1952. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War . He was a logger, owner of Davis Appliance and HVAC. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Lockesburg.
Funeral services were held May 7 in the Lockesburg Church of Christ with Joe May officiating.

Kristie Dale McDonald, age 44, a resident of Foreman, died Saturday, May 7 in Little Rock.
She was born Nov. 21, 1971, in De Queen. She was a civilian contractor for the U.S. government and a U.S. Army veteran.
A memorial service was May 14 at the Tom Baptist Church with Jerry Galloway officiating.

Vernon Edgar Vaughn, age 78, a resident of De Queen, died Friday, May 6 in a Denison, Texas hospital.
He was born Oct. 26, 1937. He was a retired park superintendent for Lake Murray State of Oklahoma and a member of Kern Heights Baptist Church in De Queen.
Funeral services were held May 10 at Kern Heights Baptist Church with Rev.Jordan Hodges officiating.
Burial followed in the Pauley Cemetery.

Mrs. Jo Flowers Atkins, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016 at her home.

She was born to John Fredrick and Mildred Howell Sinclair Flowers in Spring Hill on April 29, 1932. She was a nurse and a homemaker and was a charter member of Old Time Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Carlton and Rev. Lane Garner officiating. Burial followed in Redmen Cemetery.
Visitation was held Friday, Jan. 29 from 6-8 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home.

Paul Smith
Arlis Paul Smith, Jr., age 58, a resident of De Queen, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2016.

He was born to Arlis Paul, Sr., and Mary Frances Kitchens Smith in De Queen on July 2, 1957.

He grew up in Sevier County and made his living in maintenance at the Sevier County Housing Authority. He was a member of 4-C Cowboy Church, and a long-time member of Lowrey Camp in Howard County.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel De Queen, with burial in the Mt. Ida Cemetery.

Visitation was Monday, Feb. 1 from 6-8 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bonnie Marie Hughes Marshall, age 66, a resident of Grannis and former resident of De Queen, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 at her home.

She was born to Ollie Lee and Bertha Ann Owens Hughes in Buckeye, Ariz. on April 12, 1949. She was a homemaker.

She was a published poet both in America and in Europe.

Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016 in the Chapelwood Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1 at Chandler Funeral Home.

Lawrence "Larry" Cord Tugman, age 54, a resident of Gillham, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2016 at Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana, Texas.

He was born April 17, 1961 in San Jose, Calif. He was a mechanic at Frank's Transmission.

Kevin Joseph Van Meter, age 43, a resident of De Queen, died Monday, Feb. 1, 2016 in De Queen.

He was born to Joseph Earl and Patricia Ann Lowrey Van Meter in De Queen on Aug. 15, 1972. He was a retired employee of De Queen Sand and Gravel and a Baptist.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016 in Old Center Cemetery, Horatio, with Charles Ligon officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Feb. 3 at Chandler Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m.

Schelly Bailey
Schelly Bailey, age 47, a resident of Eagletown, Okla., died Jan. 28, 2016 in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born Dec. 20, 1968 in Prescott, the daughter of Darrell and Patricia (Johnson) Wallace. She was affiliated with the Baptist Faith and had lived in Eagletown for the past 20 years.

Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 at Brumley Funeral Home, Broken Bow, Okla. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers and food please make a donation in Schellyís memory to a Cancer Research Program of your choice.

She was born to Marie (Burrows) and William Etchison on Jan. 7, 1936 in the community of Mineral.

He was born to Belden Leander and Angela McBride Ward in Texarkana, Texas on April 8, 1990.

James David Talley, age 84, a resident of Cerro Gordo, Okla., died Friday, Jan. 22, 2016 in Cerro Gordo.

He was born July 19, 1931 in Goodwater, Okla. He was a self-employed handyman and a member of the Shinewell Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hudie Ernest and Alice McGough Talley.

Mrs. Brenda Waters Lemons, age 48, a resident of Horatio, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016 at her home.

She was born to James Carl and Sandra Renee Watkins Waters in Shreveport, La. on June 2, 1967. She was a substitute teacher in the Horatio School District with 11 years service, as well as a homemaker. She was a Baptist.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Howard Hall officiating.
Visitation was held Monday, Jan. 25 from 6-8 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home.

Rufus Walker
V. Rufus Walker, age 62, died Monday, Jan. 25, 2016. He was born Jan. 30, 1953 to Rev. and Mrs. James Walker.

He was retired from the Paper Mill in Ashdown after 23 years.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 2016 at New Testament Missionary Baptist Church. Committal service will be held at 4:00 p.m. at Old Piney Cemetery in Lockesburg, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28 at Boyd Funeral Home.
