Jose Manuel Gonzalez, 67, of Horatio died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018 in Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Tex.
He was born Aug. 3, 1950 in Zacatecas, Mexico. He was a barber and a member of the St. Barbara Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass was held Jan. 5 in the Monsignor Scott Friend Pastoral Center at St. Barbara Catholic Church with Father Juan Manjarrez officiating. Burial followed in Horatio Cemetery.

Larry Colvin Leeper, 63, of Lockesburg died Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 at Bear Creek Healthcare in De Queen.
He was born Oct. 1, 1954 in De Queen. He was a mechanic, logger and a United States Army veteran.

Mrs. Agnes Shaw Runnels Nix, 96, of Lockesburg died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018 at her home.
She was born Aug. 15, 1921 in Bethel, Okla. She was a retired LPN and a member of the Nix Chapel Church.

Claudia Jeanne Southworth Stiers, 70, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018 at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville.
She was born Dec. 13, 1947 in De Queen to Max and Maylene Dobbs Southworth Alexander. She retired after 20 years working with Walmart and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Peggy Jean Hutson, 88, of Fayetteville died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017 in Springdale.
She was born July 29, 1929 in Smackover. She was retired from Arkansas Social Services.

Mrs. Annie Maull
Mrs. Annie Lee Hopkins Maull, 75, of De Queen died Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 in the Baptist Hospital in Conway.
She was born to W.C. and Minnie Nelson Hopkins on Jan. 4, 1943 in Schaal. She graduated from Lockesburg and attended Cossatot Community College University of Arkansas nursing program. She worked in food service and was a caregiver as well as a homemaker. She was a member of the Lewis Temple Church of God in Christ where she served as an usher.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018 in the Lewis Temple Church of God in Christ with Rev. E.A. Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery.

Daniel Lee Dunn, 40, of Fort Worth, Tex, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018 in Fort Worth.
He was born to Thomas and Donna Watson Dunn in De Queen on June 10 1977. He was a 1996 graduate of De Queen High School and a journeyman lineman for Novinium, Inc., where he was the foreman.

Lonnie Leon Pressley, Sr. age 77, of De Queen died Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 in Texarkana, Tex.
He was born Feb. 28, 1940 in Horatio. He was retired after 39 years from Weyerhaeuser. He was a member of the Chapel Hill Baptist Church and Army National Guard.

Mrs. Wanda Vaughn
Wanda Lucille Neddersen Vaughn died on January 3, 2018, surrounded by her family.
She was born on Oct. 29, 1932 in Arkansas. She lived on both sides of the country, eventually graduating from Benicia High School in California on June 6, 1951.
She attended Kern Heights Baptist Church in De Queen.
She was a bookkeeper and tailor. She started a teddy bear making business out of her home where she made and sold teddy bears of all kinds and styles.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018 in Kern Heights Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Pauley Cemetery in Little River County.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m Friday, Jan. 12 . at Chandler Funeral Home.

Gerald Hightower
Gerald DeFee "Dee" Hightower, 75, of Redwater, Tex., died Friday, Dec. 29, 2017 in a Texarkana, Tex., hospital.
He was born Dec. 7, 1942 in Rogers to Bernice and DeFee Hightower. He was a member of Redwater United Methodist Church and a supporter of Jeff Schreve From His Heart Ministry. He worked as a plumber's helper, assisted his uncle in the post office and Ran-Dee's cafe/store. He was retired from DDRT at Red River Army Depot and was an Air Force veteran stationed in Japan.
Funeral services were held Dec. 31, 2017 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Audie Dawson, Ken Golden and Rev. Mindy Zwirn officiating. Burial followed in the Gravelly Cemetery in Foreman.

Ms. Adrienne Elizabeth Butler, 35, of Horatio died Monday, Jan. 1, 2018.
She was born to Joel Edward Butler and Deborah Kay Phillips on Nov. 27, 1982 in Texarkana, Tex. She worked as an LPN and attended the Horatio Assembly of God.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen. Burial will follow in the Columbus Community Cemetery in Columbus.

Douglas C. Hall, 70, of Littleton, Colo. died Friday, Dec. 29, 2017 after a battle with cancer.
He was born Feb. 19, 1947 in Athens to Robert and Elsie Perrin Hall. He was a graduate of Horatio High School and had a career in the oil and gas industry. He was a member of Riverside Church in Denver, Colo., where he served as Trustee and Deacon.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 at Riverside Church in Denver. Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6 in Littleton Cemetery in Littleton, Colo.

James Lee "Jim" Behling, 74, of De Quee, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 in De Queen.
He was born Nov. 2, 1943 in Janesville, Wisc. He served in the Vietnam War and was awarded several medals including the Purple Heart , the Silver Star and the National Defense Service medal. He retired from 32 years of law enforcement in 2004.

He was born Nov. 10, 1968 in De Queen. He served in the military with both the Army and the Navy and was an employee of Tyson. He was a member of the VFW.

Seldon Stansbury
Seldon Crew Stansbury, 94, of Pittsburg, Tex., formerly of Horatio, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017 in a Pittsburg, Tex., hospital.
He was born to James William and Ethel Clements Stansbury on March 17, 1923 in DeKalb, Tex. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a U.S. Postmaster in Horatio, retiring after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Williamson Community Church.
Funeral services were held Dec. 27 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, De Queen, with Bro. Jimmy Roden officiating. Burial with military rites followed in the Clear Creek Cemetery, Horatio.

She was born to J.E. and Waunie E. Pearson Loper in Phoenix, Ariz. on Jan. 9, 1949. She was a retired secretary with the Lockesburg School System with 20 years service.
