Joseph Edward Kolb, 85, of Green's Chapel community died Monday, April 2, 2018 in Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville.
He was born Aug. 6, 1932 in the Green's Chapel community. He was a project accountant for Weyerhaeuser, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and a member of the Green's Chapel Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held April 6 in Green's Chapel Methodist Church with Bro. Carroll Jackson officiating. Burial followed in Green's Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Glenden Wheat Irons, 66 of Texarkana, died Thursday, April 5, 2018 at her home.
She was born Sept. 18, 1951 in Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a Christian.

Lonny Ray Staggs, 64 of De Queen died Sunday, April 8, 2018 at his home.
He was born June 27, 1953 in De Queen. He was a retired mechanic and Christian.
Graveside memorial services were held April 12, 2018 at Old Piney Cemetery with Ken Staggs officiating.

Willa Dean Austin
Willa Dean Austin, 84, of Purcell, Okla., formerly of Wickes, died Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Sunset Estates Nursing Home in Purcell.
She was born Sept. 8, 1933 in Rector to Willie Curtis David and Mary Emaline (Howell) House. She and her husband owned and operated a chicken farm for over 20 years in Wickes. She was a longtime member of Wickes Church of the Nazarene.
Funeral services were held April 11 at Wickes Church of the Nazarene. Interment was at the Daniel Cemetery, Wickes.

Mrs. Jessica McConnell
Mrs. Jessica Nichole Willis McConnell, 27, of Hot Springs died Friday, April 6, 2018, in Hot Springs.
She was born Nov. 6, 1990, in Hope. She was a Certified Nurse Aid at Heritage of Hot Springs Health and Rehab.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel at Dierks with Dr. Blase officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Joy Cemetery.

Mrs. Darlene Youngblood Kesterson, 78, of De Queen died Thursday, March 29, 2018 in the Christus St. Michael Health System, Texarkana, Tex.
She was born to William Jerry Youngblood and Minnie Wyant Youngblood on Aug. 16, 1939 in Hannibal, Mo. She was a school teacher for 43 years, retiring from the De Queen School District. She attended church at the Grannis Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held March 31 in the First Baptist Church of Gillham with Bro. Shane Haarmeyer officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Wickes.

Raymon O. Faulkner
Raymon Ovay Faulkner, 94, of Umpire died Thursday, March 29, 2018 in St. Michael Health System in Texarkana, Tex.
He was born June 6, 1923 in Umpire. He was a World War II Army veteran and was a member of the Umpire Holiness Church.

Mrs. Vickie Rhea Story, 62, of Lockesburg died Saturday, March 31, 2018 at her home.
She was born Sept. 17, 1955 in Sapulpa, Okla. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Mrs. Geraldine Lee Desmond, 80, of De Queen died Sunday, April 1, 2018 in Texarkana, Tex.
She was born Nov. 22, 1937 in De Queen. She was a homemaker and a member of the New Zion Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the New Zion Baptist Church in De Queen with Dr. Carl Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery.

Michael C. Dykes
Mr. Michael Clark Dykes, 73, of De Queen died Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Baptist Health in Little Rock.
He was born July 18, 1944 in New Orleans, La. He graduated from St. Paulís High School in Covington, La. where he was a Parade All-American football player and was later inducted into St. Paulís Athletic Hall of Fame.
He married Sharon Scoggin in 1968.
A teacher and coach, he spent most of his career at De Queen High School and retired in 2006. In the 2003-04 and 2004-05 school years he received the University Of Arkansas Department Of Chemical Engineering Distinguished High School Mentor Award.
He also taught at Nashville and Saratoga and was the owner of Dykes Sporting Goods in De Queen.
In the 1970ís he was instrumental in forming the De Queen Optimist Club and was on the Board of Directors of De Queen Little League. He was a Christian and attended First Baptist Church in De Queen.
Graveside funeral services were held March 31 at Center Point Cemetery with Bro. Glen Green officiating.

Mrs. Evelyn Byers
Mrs. Mary Evelyn Dodds Byers, 83,of Richland, Mo,. died Sunday, March 18, 2018 in Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Mo.
She was born to Fred Russell and Vondall Opal Crisp Dodds in Dierks on Oct. 25, 1934. She retired from Waynesville Schools as Food Service Director and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Funeral services were held March 23 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Foster Krudwig officiating. Burial followed in Valley Cemetery.

Sue Aist, 79, of Conway died Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in Dallas, Tex.
She was born Clema Sue Melton on July 30, 1938 in Briggsville to Opal and Mary Melton. She was an employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She also worked at Hendrix College and the University of Central Arkansas, retiring as an administrative assistant to the Dean of the College.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Grace United Methodist Church, 1075 Hogan Lane in Conway.

Juan Lagunas, 65, of De Queen died Friday, March 23, 2018 in the St. Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs.
He was born to Filimon Lagunas and Donaciana Flores on June 24, 1952 in Mexico. He was employed at Pilgrims in De Queen and was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church in De Queen.
Funeral services were held March 25 at St. Barbara Catholic Church in De Queen. Burial followed in Redmen Cemetery.

Kenny Joe Flemens
Kenny Joe Flemens, 63, of Eureka Springs died Monday, March 19, 2018, in Springdale.
He was born on Nov. 4, 1954, in Watseka, Ill. After graduating from Nashville High School, he served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years.
Funeral services were held March 24 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Bro. Don Embry officiating. Burial was in the Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego.

Bessie J. Torgerson
Bessie Jean Torgerson, nee Emerson, passed away peacefully Jan. 1, 2018, at her home in Oak Harbor, Wash.
Born in Lockesburg on Dec. 31, 1932, the daughter of John and Mary Elisabeth (Wilson) Emerson, she grew up in Lockesburg and De Queen. She was the valedictorian of the class of 1950 at Lockesburg High School where she starred in basketball.
Memorial celebrations will be held during the Emerson Family Reunion, April 14 at Old Center Church in Frog Level.

He was born Jan. 3, 1953, in De Queen. He was a truck driver and a United States Navy Veteran.

He was born Nov. 3, 1921, in Poteau, Okla. He was a superintendent for KCS Railroad and retired after 45 years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served during World War II.
