George R. Frady
George Reed Frady, 71, of De Queen died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017 at his home.
He was born to George Vernon and Eula Mae Wheeler Frady on March 26, 1945. He worked in the timber industry as a saw mill worker. He was a member of the First Assembly of God at De Queen.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen.

Marjorie Carpenter
Mrs. Marjorie Joy Youngblood Carpenter, 87, of De Queen, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017 at her home.
She was born to William Jeremiah and Lillian Louise Rasmon Youngblood on July 25, 1929 in the Kellum Community of Sevier County.
She worked as a cafeteria worker at both the Grannis and Gillham schools and has been a member of the Community of Christ Church in Grannis since 1936.
Funeral services were held Feb. 11 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Seventy Terry Hess, Elder Bruce Aarant, Elder Barbara Martin and Bro. Don Youngblood officiating. Burial followed in the Valley Cemetery at Gillham.

Patricia L. Kesterson
Patricia Lee Kesterson, 59, of Umpire, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017 in Hot Springs.
She was born July 31, 1957 in Wenatchee, Wash. She taught at Dierks Schools, was a teacher for 37 years and a member of the Mt. View Baptist Church.

Wayne George Fackler, 83, of De Queen, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017 in Ashdown.
He was born Sept. 3, 1933 in Tolona, Ill. He was a border patrolman and a security guard for Domtar. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and attended Central Baptist Church in Ashdown.

Mrs. Betty Emogean Jackson-Dunlap Rives, 81, of Idabel, Okla., died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017 in Idabel.
She was born Sept. 20, 1935 in Cerro Gordo, Okla. She was an office manager for Zales Corporation and attended By Pass Church of Christ.

Jerry Moreland, 76, of Winthrop, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2017.
He was born Dec. 21, 1940 in Bethel, Ohio to Catherine and Walter Moreland.
He was a Vietnam veteran who retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service as a Master Sergeant. He then managed an auto parts store in Foreman for over 20 years.

Bryant York B.Y. Gardner
Bryant York B.Y. Gardner, 89, of De Queen, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017 in a Hot Springs, hospital.
He was born to Theo and Prudie Braime Gardner Feb. 12, 1928 in High Point, N.C.>
He served in all four branches of the United States Armed Forces, but retired from the Navy in 1967. He was a firefighter at the Dallas Naval Air Station, a private pilot, and was the proprietor of Gardner Mobile Home Park in De Queen.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017.in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jason Carlton officiating. Burial will follow in the Avon Cemetery at De Queen. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17 at the funeral home.

Velma Woodward Crane, 90, of Broken Bow, Okla., passed away Feb. 2, 2017, at McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel.
She was born July 14, 1926, in Edenville, Mich., to Lafa and Jessie (Westervelt) Fowler.
She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
A private inurnment will take place at a later date.

Charles Ramasco
Charles Robert Ramasco, 80, of Horatio, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2017 at his home.
He was born March 12, 1937 in Newark, N.J. He worked construction and was a member of the Williamson Community Church.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 10, 2017 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Old Center Cemetery in Horatio.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 9 from 5-7 p.m.

Mildred F. Davis
Mildred Foye Davis, 97, formerly of Horatio, died Feb. 1, 2017 at Denison, Tex.
She was born on Sept.12, 1919 in Magazine to A.B. and Elsie Coleman White.
She was the Valedictorian of Magazine High School in 1936 and graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1940.
Mrs. Davis taught home making for 37 years at Horatio High School. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Horatio, a member of the cemetery committee and a long term member of the Democratic National Committee in Sevier County.
Funeral services were held Feb. 4, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Virgil Romine officiating. Burial followed in Horatio Cemetery.

Edna Mae Cowell Van Voast, 100, of De Queen, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2017 in a De Queen nursing home.
She was born June 15, 1916 in Freeport, Kan., to Bert Francis and Lola Hope George Cowell.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in De Queen. She had received a plaque for being one of the eldest ladies in Sevier County for the past three years.
Funeral services were held Jan. 27, 2017 at Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jason Carlton, Bro. Joe Carlton and Bro. Josh Herweck officiating. Burial followed in Chapel Hill Cemetery.

David McWhorter
David Richard McWhorter, 57, of Lockesburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017 in a Texarkana hospital.
He was born to Allen "Windy" and Lilly Lea Liggin McWhorter on Dec. 29, 1959 in De Queen.
He was a career logger who was one of the first to log much of Southwest Arkansas and the Pond Creek Bottoms. He was a member of Falls Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was the founding member of the Hillbilly Hunting Club at Lockesburg.
Funeral services were held Jan. 28 in the Old Union Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Clayton Crow officiating. Burial followed in the Old Union Cemetery, Lockesburg.

James McElroy, Sr.
James Otis McElroy, Sr., 60, of Lockesburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017 in Texarkana, Tex.
He was born to Otis James and Mae Frances Hill McElroy in Chandler, Ariz., Jan. 23, 1957.
He served in the U.S. Army military and was a journeyman electrician. He was a Methodist.

Randy Lynn Lindsey, 64, of Horatio, died Monday, Jan. 23, in a Little Rock hospital.
Randy was born Sept. 2, 1952 in De Queen to Tommy Ray and Bettye Jewell Crawford Lindsey.
He was the retired Owner of Lindsey Automotive and Communications and was a retired Fire Chief in Horatio.
He was a member of Horatio First Baptist Church and had been a dedicated member of Belleville Masonic Lodge #35 for more than 25 years.
Funeral services were held Jan. 26, at Horatio First Baptist Church with Coy Arnold and Rev. Jerry Hill officiating. Burial followed in Horatio Cemetery.

Lawrence Ray Chandler, 70, of De Queen, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017.
He was born to Frankie Gene and Lona Lee Griggs Chandler Aug. 2, 1946, in Sentinel, Okla.
A graduate of Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science, he was the founder and owner of Chandler Funeral Home. He was a long time county coroner.
He was a member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in De Queen. He was also a member of the Arkansas Cattlemen's Association, Gideon's International, the Arkansas Funeral Director's Association and the National Funeral Director's Association.

Charles Morgan "Chuck" Emmerich, 56, of Horatio, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017 in the UAMS Hospital in Little Rock.
He was born to Charles Dorron and Ollie Cornish Emmerich in Lakewood, Colo. on May 15, 1960.
He entered the U.S. Marines in 1978 and spent 20 years in the military. After retiring from the military, he worked as a Sevier County Deputy Sheriff as well as a rancher.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Horatio.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2017 in Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ed Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in Old Center Cemetery, Horatio.
