Debra Johnson
Mrs. Debra Ann Clardy Johnson, age 66, a resident of Horatio, died Saturday, July 9, 2016 in Horatio.

She was born to Winfred Clardy and Dorothy Jean Martin in Horatio on May 26, 1950. She was raised by her maternal grandparents, Rubin and Everene Martin. She was a RN 48 years, working in the Labor and Delivery for St. Michael Hospital and De Queen General Hospital. She also was the nurse for the Sevier County Developmental Center and was on the Horatio City Council. She was an active member of the Mt. Phebia Baptist Church, where she served as superintendent, church clerk and church treasurer.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 17, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Horatio. Burial will follow in Sunset Acres, Horatio, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 16 at Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, from 5-7 p.m.

Harace Merworth
Harace Junior Merworth, age 90, a resident of Haworth, Okla., died Tuesday, July 5, 2016 in Overton Brook VA Medical Center in Shreveport, La.

He was born June 13, 1926 in DeKalb, Texas. He was a self-employed brick layer; a Word War II Army veteran and a life-long member of the Church of Christ.

Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2016 in the Mt. Ida Cemetery with Bobby Tatum officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 7 at the funeral home.

Merle C. Wilbur
Merle Charles Wilbur, age 90, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016 in Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas.

He was born Sept. 3, 1925 in the West Otis Community. He was a former employee of Dierks Lumber Yard and a World War II Army veteran.

Dottlee Meager
Dottlee Duggan Reid Meager, age 82, died Tuesday, July 5, 2016 near Baytown, Texas.

She was born Dec. 24, 1933 to Thomas and Dona Rose Duggan in Grannis. She was a published poet and a Baptist.

Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Mineral Cemetery near Gillham, with Bobby Tatum, minister, officiating.

Maria de Bello
Mrs. Maria Viviano de Bello, age 68, a resident of Atlanta, GA, died Tuesday, July 5, 2016 in Atlanta.

She was born July 17, 1947 in Acapulco, Mexico. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Beacon Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Spennett Nash officiating. Burial followed in the Beacon Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Linda Padilla
Mrs. Linda Williamson Nealy Padilla, age 67, a resident of Richland, WA., and former resident of Horatio, died Jan. 24, 2016 in Richland.

She was born to Lawrence "Snooks" and Mary Williamson in De Queen on June 22, 1948. She studied art at Arkadelphia College and later became a cosmetologist. She was a Christian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her first husband, Larry Nealy.

Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016 in the Williamson Community Church, Horatio, with Bro. Jimmy Roden and Sherry Dodd officiating.

Ramsey Huckaby
Ramsey Dewayne Huckaby, age 66, a resident of De Queen, died Sunday, July 10, 2016 in the UAMS Hospital, Little Rock.

He was born to Felix Harrison and Louise Ramsey Huckaby in De Queen on Oct. 20, 1949. He was retired from the Sevier County Road Department, retiring with 41 years service. He was an active member of the Old Time Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Joe Carlton officiating. Burial will follow in the Avon Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.

Dr. L. Don Brown
Dr. Llewellyn Don Brown, age 70, a resident of Cave Creek, Arizona, died Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the family home place, Horatio, Arkansas.

He was born to Tommie and Snowie Belle Coulter Brown in Horatio, Arkansas, on July 15, 1945. He was raised in the Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the U. S. Army. He went on to serve as Senior Vice President of Manufacturing and Engineering with Kraft Foods and Senior Vice President of Container Operations & Technology at Coors Brewing, retiring in 2001. He was awarded an honorary doctorate of law degree from University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in 1998, and is being inducted into the UAPB Hall of Fame for Business this October, 2016. He had a passion for golf, traveling, photography, woodworking and was an avid reader.

He is survived by his wife of over 48 years, Inez Wyatt Brown of Cave Creek, Arizona, three daughters and a son-in-law, Daria Akilah Kamila Brown of Portland, Oregon, Ellynn Donisha Brown of Los Angeles, California, and Dalila Jinelle Brown and Edgar Bautista of Plano, Texas, a grandson, Antonio Llewellyn Bautista of Plano, Texas, and an adopted grandson, Alex Bautista of Plano, Texas, a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Juanita Brown of Chicago, Illinois, a sister, Patricia “Pat” Brown-Dixon of Kansas City, Missouri, and more than twenty nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services for Dr. L. Don Brown will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, July 16th at the Horatio First Baptist Church, 207 Hazard Street, Horatio, Arkansas 71842. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home for a Birthday Fellowship in honor of Dr. Brown on Friday, July 15, 2016 from 5 to 7:00 P.M.

Dale Clark Hanson, age 82, a resident of Lockesburg, died Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Little River Nursing and Rehab in Ashdown.
He was born Aug. 13, 1933, in Oklahoma City, Okla. He was the owner of Hanson's Body Shop in Lockesburg and member of Rock Hill Baptist Church.
Graveside funeral services were held July 2 at Oddfellows Cemetery in Lockesburg with John Lindsey officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ruby McWhorter
Mrs. Ruby Pearl Batey McWhorter, age 101, a resident of Prescott and formerly of De Queen, died June 29, 2016, in Prescott.
She was born Sept. 14, 1914, in Provo. She was a retired cook and member of Trinity Baptist Church in Springfield, Ore.
Funeral services were held July 2 in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Provo with Joe Brown and Larry Fry officiating. Burial followed in the McHorse Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Helen Mae Lott Holloway, age 67, a resident of Dierks, died July 3, 2016, at Dierks Health and Rehab.
She was born Sept. 17, 1948, in Dierks. She was a member of the Bethany Missionary Baptist Church in Dierks; a housekeeper for Dierks Health and Rehab and former owner of Our Lil Playskool in Dierks.

Anthony DeWayne Barnes, age 56, a resident of Dierks, died July 4, 2016, at his home.
He was born in Dallas, Texas, on Aug. 26, 1959. He was a millwright.

James Leon "Doogie" Cogburn, age 68, a resident of Dierks, died July 4, 2016, in Little Rock.
He was born March 15, 1948, in Hatfield. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for Weyerhaeuser after 20 years; a self-employed mechanic; a member of the Oak Hill Masonic Lodge and a Christian.

Pamela Diane Simmons Carter, age 64, a resident of Burg, died June 23, 2016, at her home.
She was born Feb. 3, 1952, in the Burg Community. She was the activity director at Dierks Health and Rehab and Mine Creek Healthcare.
She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Mrs. Sally Mae Scroggins Scott Harris, age 84, a resident of Lockesburg, and former resident of Ashdown, died June 16, 2016, in a Texarkana hospital.
She was a 1950 graduate of Little River County Training School and a member of the New Dora Baptist Church in Tom, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Jim Scott and Lucious Harris.
Funeral services were held June 22 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Halsell officiating. Burial followed in the Hickory Grove Cemetery, Nashville.

Merrie Burl Walker, a resident of Ashdown, was born on Nov. 19, 1931, to Odie Burl and Minnie Purtell Walker in the Melrose Community of Lockesburg.
He was a veteran, having served in the Army. He was a barber and a member of Central Baptist Church were he served as Sunday School Superintendent and was a deacon.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 10, 2016, at Madden Funeral Home in Ashdown. Burial followed at Wright Chapel Cemetery in Lockesburg.

Cletius "Bones" Irvan, age 87, a resident of Horatio, died Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at his home.
He was born on Nov. 5, 1928, in Rush Springs, Okla. He worked in maintenance for Weyerhaeuser and was a Navy Veteran, having served in WWII.

Funeral services for Jeb Stuart Lord, Jr., age 89, were held June 12, 2016, at New Chapel Hill Baptist Church in West Monroe, La. Interment followed at the New Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
He was a U.S.M.C. veteran of World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Pacific Campaign with two Battle Stars, China Occupation, World War II Victory Medals and Marine Combat Ribbon.
He worked in Arkansas for the Dierks company and retired from Manville forestry office.
He was a deacon, member of gospel quartet and member of the New Chapel Hill Baptist Church.
