Ricky Lynn Hunter, age 62, a resident of Athens, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015.

He was born on Jan. 5, 1953, at Roseburg, Ore., the son of Q. D. Hunter and Velron Murphy Hunter.  He was preceded in death by his father.
He was Baptist and a heavy equipment operator.

Services were held at 1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Marcus Crawley officiating. Interment was in the Cecil Chapel Cemetery in Vandervoort under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
Visitation was held Thursday, Jan. 22 from 6-8 p.m.

Norma Kesterson
Norma Kesterson, age 76, a resident of Dierks, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015 in Little Rock.

She was born Oct. 31, 1938 in Burg. She was a retired registered nurse and worked at the VA Hospital in Shreveport. She attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Dierks.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2015 in the Fellowship Baptist Church with Gary Welch and James Butler officiating. Burial followed in Burg Cemetery, under direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

Mrs. Mary Jo Miller Miles, age 78, a resident of Wickes, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015 in Dierks Health and Rehab Center in Dierks.
She was born Jan. 29, 1936 in Washington. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Thelma Jean Miller Jones, age 89, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015 at her home.

She was born to Elison Lee and Verna Lee Ramsey Miller Feb. 9, 1925 in De Queen. She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Time Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Shane Haarmeyer officiating. Burial followed in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Judith Greene
Judith (Judy) Ellan Robinson Greene, age 75, a resident of Arlington, Texas and former resident of De Queen, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015 in Media, PA.
She was born Jan. 7, 1940 to Ralph O'Neal Robinson and Mararet Helen Skelton Robinson in De Queen.

Nancy Harris
Nancy Dedner Harris was born to Rodney Dock and Louise Dedner in Lockesburg June 28, 1964 and died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015 at her home in Texarkana.

She served as pianist for the New Zion choir in her early years.
She attended Lockesburg Public Schools and graduated in 1982 as valedictorian of her class. She continued her education at Texarkana Community College where she graduated with honors with a degree in computers.

She was a former employee of Albertson's Grocery Store and was most recently employed by WEST Business Solutions.

Mrs. Tina R. Watson, age 69, a resident of De Queen, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015 in the Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana.

She was born July 25, 1945 in De Queen. She was retired from First State Bank in De Queen and the EZ Mart Corporation. She was a member of Kern Heights Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015 in the Kern Heights Baptist Church with Rusty Ross and Jordan Hodges officiating. Burial followed in Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Pauline Lipsey
Pauline Pinkerton Lipsey, age 94, a resident of Fort Worth, Texas and former resident of Athens, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2015.

She was born April 12, 1920 in Howard County, the daughter of Ben Seals and Era Martin Seals. She retired after many years as the Umpire Postmaster and was a member of the Athens Holiness Church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Bill Wakley and Bro. Dale Crawford officiating. Interment was in the Athens Cemetery, under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Jan. 14 from 6-8 p.m.

Mrs. Babe Ruth Chandler Dorsey, age 84, a resident of De Queen, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2015 at her home.
She was born to Frank and Lona Griggs Chandler April 26, 1930 in Horatio.

She was a retired USDA Poultry Inspector, working in Grannis, Nashville, De Queen and Broken Bow, Okla. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Horatio.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John Guitierres and Bro. Joey Brewer officiating. Burial followed in Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

He was born to Clifford and Pearl Pettigrew Stinnett in Horatio Sept. 29, 1933. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired accountant for Gray’s Butane.

Walter T. Sykes, age 89, a resident of Lockesburg, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014 in the Rich Mountain Nursing and Rehab in Mena.

He was born Dec. 10, 1925 in Gainesville, Texas to Myrtle Case Sykes and Edward Benjamin Sykes. He was retired from the Arkansas Highway Department; was a World War II Navy veteran serving in New Guinea, a 32nd degree Mason, member of Belleville Masonic Lodge and a member of First Baptist Church in Lockesburg.

John Ward, Jr.
John E. Ward, Jr., age 63, a resident of San Antonio, Texas, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2014 in San Antonio.

He was born to John E., Sr. and Perlene Cranford Ward in Horatio on Oct. 19, 1951. He served in the U.S. Army as a helicopter pilot and ranger. After serving in active duty, he retired from the National Guard with the rank of Major. He also worked in civil service as a helicopter pilot. He was a Christian.

He was born Aug. 13, 1932 in the Walnut Springs Community of Sevier County. He worked for Weyerhaeuser Company at D & E Railroad in finance and administration. He was past president of the Rotary Club, served on the De Queen School Board and was a former board member of the Chamber of Commerce. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the First Baptist Church of De Queen.
