Thomas Goodson
Thomas Wayne Goodson, age 80, a resident of Fort Smith, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015.

He was born July 16, 1935 in Nashville to Thomas Louis Goodson and Esther Eliza Chambers Goodson. He was retired from the District 4 Arkansas State Highway Department.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law and two grandsons, Adam and James McMillan.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015 at Lewis-Roberts Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with interment at Forrest Park Cemetery, under the direction of Lewis-Roberts Funeral Chapel, Fort Smith.

Bernard L. Esarey
Bernard Loyd Esarey, age 90, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015 in the Christus St. Michael Health System.

He was born to Sol and Wynema Sprinkle Esarey on Oct. 20, 1924 in Mooresville, Ind. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy, where he was a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient. He was a retired welder, mechanic and sheep rancher. He was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church in De Queen.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015 in the Chapel Hill Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. with Bro. Shane Haarmeyer officiating. Cremation is under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ethel Anner Hill Lott, age 95, a resident of Dierks, died Friday, Aug. 21, 2015 in Dierks Health and Rehab in Dierks.

She was born Nov. 11, 1919 in Newhope. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Assembly of God in Dierks.

Randall Lee "Randy" Crow, age 63, a resident of De Queen, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015 at his home.

He was born Sept. 26, 1951 in Ashdown. He restored classic cars, was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Old Time Gospel Church in Lockesburg.

Dan Bohannon
Dan Douglas Bohannon, age 77, a resident of Horatio, died Monday, Aug. 24, 2015 in the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, Shreveport, La.

He was born to Carl Claude and Hazel Leona Haskett Bohannon in Houston, Texas, Aug. 10, 1938. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the U.S. Army. He served as color guard while stationed in Germany for President John F. Kennedy. He was a former employee for KCS, a former machinist and a retired truck driver for Southern Refrigerated Transportation Industry. He was a member of the Barfield Hunting Club.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 28 at 2 p.m. in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Crumbly officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in the Old Center Cemetery, Horatio, under direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Delia Hendrix
Delia Hendrix, age 76, a life-long resident of De Queen, died Friday, Aug. 21, 2015 at McAllen Medical Center in McAllen, Texas.
She was born Sept. 9, 1938 in Edinburg, Texas, the daughter of Elijio and Bernardina (Moreno) Ruiz. She was retired from the De Queen School System and was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church in De Queen.

A visitation including the Holy Rosary was held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen.

Funeral Mass will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015 in the Monsignor Scott Friend Pastoral Center at St. Barbara Catholic Church with Father Juan Manjarres officiating. Cremation will follow.

Ms. Thelma Lee
Ms. Thelma Jean Lee, age 84, a resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015 at her home.

She was born to George Emmuel and Dovie Julia Scroggins Lee in De Queen on April 12, 1931. She was a retired restaurant cook, as well as a homemaker. She was a member of the New Zion Baptist Church and attended the Faith and Deliverance Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015 in the First Assembly of God Church in De Queen with Rev. Patrick Grant and Pastor Jamie Erby officiating. Burial will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Friday, Aug. 28 from 5-7 p.m.

Brandon Michael Pollard, age 9, a resident of Farmington and former resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015 at his home.
He was born to Haskel Eugene and Amber Joy Alves Pollard in Mena on Aug. 8, 2006 and was a student in Jerry "Pop" Williams Elementary School in Farmington. He was a Christian.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, De Queen, with Bro. George Frachiseur officiating. Burial followed in Chapel Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.

T.L. Brooks, Jr., age 78, a resident of Winthrop, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015 in De Queen.

He was born Sept. 20, 1936 in Little River County, Arkansas. He retired from Cooper Tire after 30 years. He served in the National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tillman Levi Brooks, Sr., and Marie Dellinger Brooks.

George D. Peterson
George Donald “Don” Peterson, age 79, of De Queen and formerly of Girard, Kan., died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015 in the Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.

He was born Nov. 7, 1935 in Kinsley, Kan., a son of George D. and Edna (Dorman) Peterson. He served in the U.S. Air Force for over 20 years, including two tours of duty in Vietnam. He worked at Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company in Pittsburg for over 20 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grannis and a member and past-commander of the Steven Bennefeld Post No. 7479, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Girard.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 8 at the Farlington Cemetery with Pastor Homer Frachiseur officiating. Burial followed the services with Military Honors.
The family received friends from 7-8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 7 at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home.

Jerry Wayne Metcalf, Sr., age 75, a resident of Horatio, died Monday, Aug. 3, 2015 in Houston, Texas.

He was born July 29, 1940 in Broken Bow, Okla. He worked for the Shreveport Times, was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a Christian.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Otis and Bessie Taylor Metcalf.

Alice J. Nobles
Alice Jo Nobles, age 89, a resident of Little Rock, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015 in Little Rock.

She was born on Sept. 24, 1925 in Dierks to Joe and Florence (Bess) Mantooth Nobles. She earned a baccalaureate and master's degree from the University of Arkansas and taught school in Rogers and Conway before going to Washington, D.C. in 1955 on a teacher's internship program. She was an employee of the United States Senate for over 40 years.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, 2015 in the First Baptist Church in Dierks with Dr. David Blase' officiating. Burial will follow in the Dierks Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

George P. Lawless, age 92, a resident of De Queen and formerly of Bonnerdale, died Friday, Aug. 7, 2015.

He was born Nov. 3, 1922 in Glenwood, the son of George W. and Lona Marsh Lawless. He was a cattleman, mail carrier and a member of the Beacon Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church in De Queen.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015 in the Bonnerdale Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery with Pastor Brandon Westgate officiating, under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.

Ms. Dawn Lovil, age 60, of Winder, Ga., passed away July 20, 2015.
She was the daughter of Earl and Wanda Jester Lovil. She was a former resident of Phenix City, Ala., De Queen, and El Dorado. She was an elementary school educator, most recently employed by the Muscogee County Board of Education in Columbus, Ga. She was of the Baptist denomination.

A memorial service was held Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 7 p.m. at the Chapel of Carter Funeral Home. The family received friends Saturday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to Left Over Pets, 610 Barrow Park Drive, Winder, Ga., 30680.
