Mrs. Hazel Walker
Mrs. Hazel L. Burris-Walker, 97, of De Queen, formerly of Horatio and Broken Bow, Okla., died Monday, July 10, 2017 in Bear Creek Healthcare, De Queen.
She was born to Albert and Janie Bass-Burris in Sevier County on Sept. 25, 1919. She was a Christian and attended St. John Baptist Church in Broken Bow, Okla. She was a homemaker.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James Washington officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday. Burial will follow in the Sunset Acres, Horatio.

Nancy Copeland
Mary “Nancy” Copeland, 72, of Siloam Springs, formerly of De Queen, died July 10, 2017 in Fayetteville.
She was born July 30, 1944 in Union, to Jesse Ray Copeland and Ruth Franks Copeland. She graduated from Salem High School in 1962. She earned her Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate degrees from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. She worked as an educator for over 30 years.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Siloam Springs.
Funeral services were held July 14 at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs with Pastor Grant Barnett officiating. Burial followed at Dickson Cemetery in Cherokee City.

Kenny Shane Dockery, 43, of Gillham died Thursday, July 13, 2017 in De Queen.
He was born March 7, 1974 in De Queen. He was a carpenter.

O.L. Lofton, Jr., 85, of Broken Bow, Okla. died Saturday, July 15, 2017 at his home.
He was born May 1, 1932 in Dierks. He worked for Weyerhaeuser for 37 years and was a superintendent at the Craig Plant. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Broken Bow.
Funeral services were held July 18 in the First United Methodist Church in Broken Bow with Oscar Wilkie and Roger Holley officiating. Burial followed in the Hochatown Cemetery.

Donald R. Bradshaw
Donald Ray Bradshaw, 61, of Lockesburg, formerly of Salt Lake City, Utah, died Monday, July 17, 2017 in the UAMS Hospital in Little Rock.
He was born to William Henry and Glow Dell McIntyre Bradshaw in De Queen on Dec. 9, 1955. He was a 1973 graduate of Lockesburg High School and a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church. He was supervisor of a pipe line welding crew and later worked in heavy construction.
Graveside funeral services were held July 20 in the Old Union Cemetery with Bro. John Lindsey officiating.

Kathy Sappington
Mrs. Kathy Jean Morris Sappington, 62, of Grannis, died Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at her home.
She was born to Windle Herbert and Doris Mae Miller Morris in Tulare, Calif. on April 29, 1955. She was a homemaker and had worked for the Salvation Army. She was a Baptist.

Jake Wade Geiger, 73, of Little Rock died Friday, June 30, 2017 in Baptist Medical Health Hospital, Little Rock.
He was born to Shirley and Mary Greenlee Geiger in Lockesburg on Nov. 6, 1943. He was a truck driver, retiring from Blood Trucking in Little Rock. He was a Jehovah Witness.
Funeral services were held July 8 in the Chandler Funeral Home with Emaja Dodson officiating. Burial was private.

De Wayne Houser
De Wayne Houser, 87, of Lockesburg died Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at his home.
He was born July 7, 1929 in Lockesburg. He was a retired logging contractor and a U.S. Army veteran.
Graveside funeral services were held July 6 in the Coulter Cemetery in Lockesburg with Rev. Wesley Blankenship officiating.

Lemuel O'Neal
Lemuel "Cooney" O'Neal, 91, of Newhope, died Wednesday, July 5, 2017 in Dierks Health and Rehab.
He was born Nov. 8, 1925 in Daisy. He was an employee of Weyerhaeuser Timberlands and retired after 42 years and was a member of the Pleasant Grove Freewill Baptist Church. He served in the Army Air Corp and was a Mason.
Funeral services were held July 8 in the Pleasant Grove Freewill Baptist Church with Kenny Fant officiating. Burial followed in the Liberty Cemetery.

Ben Harrison Neeley, Jr., 74, of De Queen, died Tuesday, June 27, 2017 in Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Tex.
He was born to Ben Harrison, Sr. and Billie Jean McQuerter Neeley in Long Beach, Calif., on Jan. 6, 1943. He was a 1961 graduate of De Queen High School and former owner of Neeley's Welding. He was a member of the De Queen Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon.
Funeral services were held June 30 in the Chandler Funeral Home with Toney Stowers and Bobby Tatum officiating. Burial followed in Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Roy L. Loper, 90, of Oxnard, Calif., died Thursday, June 22, 2017 at his home.
He was born Jan. 11, 1927 in Ringgold, Tex. He was a warehouseman having retired from the U.S. Civil Service in Port Hueneme Naval Base in California, a member of the Port Hueneme VFW and a U.S. Army World War II veteran.

Kenneth Lee (Klee) Lawson, died Tuesday, June 27, 2017.
He was born Dec. 3, 1940, the son of Flora Faye Priest and Luther Lawson. He attended Horatio First Assembly of God Church.
A memorial of his life was held at the J.L. Walker Fellowship Hall in Horatio July 3.

She was born March 15, 1942 in the Kellum Community near Gillham. She was a homemaker, business owner, farmer and a member of the Gillham First Baptist Church.

Ruby Young Batterton Martin, 78, of Crossett, died Sunday, June 25, 2017 at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.
A native of Horatio, Mrs. Martin was a resident of Crossett and a former resident of Hamburg and Portland for many years. She worked for the Ashley County Abstract Company for over 20 years. She was a member of the North Crossett First Baptist Church and a former member of the Trinity Free Will Baptist Church.

Mr. Billy Bob Blackwood, 80, of De Queen died Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at his home.
He was born Nov. 7, 1936, in Murfreesboro. He served in the De Queen School System for 55 years and as Superintendent for 30 years. He was also a member of the De Queen Lions Club and First United Methodist Church in De Queen and served on numerous boards.
Funeral services were held June 17 at the First United Methodist Church in De Queen with Rev. Mark Cloninger officiating. Burial followed in Redmen Cemetery.
