Jerry Don Garrison, age 51, a resident of Dierks, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016 in Huntington, W.Va.

He was born Jan. 29, 1964 in Nashville. He worked for Pilgrim's Pride.

Mrs. Jo Atkins
Mrs. Jo Flowers Atkins, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016 at her home.

She was born to John Fredrick and Mildred Howell Sinclair Flowers in Spring Hill on April 29, 1932. She was a nurse and a homemaker and was a charter member of Old Time Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Carlton and Rev. Lane Garner officiating. Burial followed in Redmen Cemetery.
Visitation was held Friday, Jan. 29 from 6-8 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home.

Paul Smith
Arlis Paul Smith, Jr., age 58, a resident of De Queen, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2016.

He was born to Arlis Paul, Sr., and Mary Frances Kitchens Smith in De Queen on July 2, 1957.

He grew up in Sevier County and made his living in maintenance at the Sevier County Housing Authority. He was a member of 4-C Cowboy Church, and a long-time member of Lowrey Camp in Howard County.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel De Queen, with burial in the Mt. Ida Cemetery.

Mrs. Bonnie Marie Hughes Marshall, age 66, a resident of Grannis and former resident of De Queen, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 at her home.

She was born to Ollie Lee and Bertha Ann Owens Hughes in Buckeye, Ariz. on April 12, 1949. She was a homemaker.

She was a published poet both in America and in Europe.

Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016 in the Chapelwood Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Lawrence "Larry" Cord Tugman, age 54, a resident of Gillham, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2016 at Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana, Texas.

He was born April 17, 1961 in San Jose, Calif. He was a mechanic at Frank's Transmission.

Kevin Joseph Van Meter, age 43, a resident of De Queen, died Monday, Feb. 1, 2016 in De Queen.

He was born to Joseph Earl and Patricia Ann Lowrey Van Meter in De Queen on Aug. 15, 1972. He was a retired employee of De Queen Sand and Gravel and a Baptist.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016 in Old Center Cemetery, Horatio, with Charles Ligon officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Feb. 3 at Chandler Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m.

Schelly Bailey
Schelly Bailey, age 47, a resident of Eagletown, Okla., died Jan. 28, 2016 in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born Dec. 20, 1968 in Prescott, the daughter of Darrell and Patricia (Johnson) Wallace. She was affiliated with the Baptist Faith and had lived in Eagletown for the past 20 years.

Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 at Brumley Funeral Home, Broken Bow, Okla. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers and food please make a donation in Schelly’s memory to a Cancer Research Program of your choice.

James David Talley, age 84, a resident of Cerro Gordo, Okla., died Friday, Jan. 22, 2016 in Cerro Gordo.

He was born July 19, 1931 in Goodwater, Okla. He was a self-employed handyman and a member of the Shinewell Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hudie Ernest and Alice McGough Talley.

Mrs. Brenda Waters Lemons, age 48, a resident of Horatio, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016 at her home.

She was born to James Carl and Sandra Renee Watkins Waters in Shreveport, La. on June 2, 1967. She was a substitute teacher in the Horatio School District with 11 years service, as well as a homemaker. She was a Baptist.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Howard Hall officiating.

V. Rufus Walker, age 62, died Monday, Jan. 25, 2016. He was born Jan. 30, 1953 to Rev. and Mrs. James Walker.

He was retired from the Paper Mill in Ashdown after 23 years.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 2016 at New Testament Missionary Baptist Church. Committal service will be held at 4:00 p.m. at Old Piney Cemetery in Lockesburg, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home. Patricia Williams
Patricia Jean Martin Williams, age 70, a resident of De Queen and formerly of Ringold, Okla., died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016 in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born to John Quincy Martin and Dorothy Chapman Martin in Bakersfield, Calif., Sept. 3, 1945. She graduated Valliant High School in 1963 and continued her education at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Okla., where she was an active member of Sigma Kappa sorority and obtained a BS and MS in mathematics and education. She taught mathematics at Rattan School from 1966-1971.

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 15, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Burwell Church of Christ in Ringold, Okla., with Wayne Talbot officiating under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home of Valliant, Okla.

A private graveside service was held at Sobol Cemetery.

Bill Hardin
William Andrew "Bill" Hardin, age 75, a resident of De Queen, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2016 at his home.

He was born to Andrew Crosley and Mary Catherine Lambert Hardin in Pontotoc, Miss. on May 14, 1940. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University in Starkville, Miss. He was production manager and plant manager at National Plastics of Port Gibson, Miss. for 21 years; plant engineer at Poulan Weedeater Injection Molding Operations in De Queen for three years and manager of Plastic and Tooling, Poulan Weedeater, De Queen for 13 years, retiring in 2004. He attended Memorial Baptist Church in De Queen and was a member of the Rusty Relic Tractor Club, Nashville.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Carlton and Rev. Larry Moore officiating. Burial followed in Clear Creek Cemetery, Horatio, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Samuel W. Raymond
Samuel W. (Sam) Raymond, age 92, a resident of Phoeniz, Ariz., died December 20, 2015.

He was born May 18, 1923 to Ray and Leona Raymond in Isabel, S.D. He trained as a machinist and joined the Army Air Force and served in the South Pacific Theater as a sharpshooter and airfield development specialist with the 864th aviation combat group.

After the war, he attended Oregon State University and graduated in 1949 with a degree in wood product manufacturing.

He was president of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. After a 33-year career with Weyerhaeuser Company, working in Oregon, Arkansas and Washington, he retired as Wood Products manager in Klamath Falls, Ore.

At Sam's request, no service was held. A private family remembrance will be held at a later time. Any remembrances can be directed to The Phoenix Rescue Mission.

Usbaldo Gonzalez
Usbaldo T. Gonzalez, age 65, a resident of De Queen, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 in De Queen.

He was born Dec. 31, 1950 in Melchor Muzquiz, Coahuila, Mexico. He was a retired production worker.

Survivors include his wife, Maria Gonzalez; five sons, Usvaldo "Jr." Gonzalez, Jose Gonzalez, Mario Gonzalez, Benito Gonzalez and Arnulfo Gonzalez and seven grandchildren.

Callie Ross
Services for Callie Elizabeth Ross, age 86, of Lubbock, Texas were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 18, 2016 at Sanders Funeral Home with burial following at Resthaven Memorial Park.

She died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2016. She was born August 8,1929 in De Queen to George and Genetta (Harris) Liggin. She married Walter Matthew Ross on July 23, 1947 in De Queen.

She is preceded in death by two of her daughters, Kathy Kevil and Betty Gale Robinson. She is survived by children, Roger Dale Ross, Kay Barron, and Sue Hamilton, all of Lubbock; 19 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; and 56 great-great grandchildren.

Clarence A. Smith
Clarence Albert Smith, retired Boeing Personnel Manager, was born Feb. 24, 1944 and died Dec. 25, 2015. Memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2016 at First Church of God in Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Smith; one son, Sean Smith; two daughters, Sonya Smith-Drayer and Shani Smith; one sister, Francene Kaufman and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Katherine "Kathy" Elaine Stegall, age 62, a resident of Lockesburg, died Monday, Jan. 4, 2016.
She was born on Aug. 4, 1953 in Pensacola, Fla. She was a homemaker and a member of the Rock Hill Baptist Church in Lockesburg.

Albert C. "PeeWee" Gentry, a resident of De Queen, died Monday, Jan. 4, 2016 at his home. He was born to William Carl and Claudia Inez Bishop Gentry on Sept. 28, 1932 in Van Alstyne, Texas. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Saudi Arabia. He worked as a mechanic for the De Queen Ford Co., as well as a poultry grower for Pilgrim's Pride. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church.

Charles Robert "Johnny" Wright, age 72, a resident of De Queen, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016 in De Queen Therapy and Living Center.
He was born to Lowell and Mildred Nolen Wright on May 28, 1943 in Hooks, Texas. He was a retired auto mechanic, and member of the Ashdown Church of Christ. He drove dragster and funny cars for Mickey Thompson at a young age in California. He was a member of the NHRA.

Clyde Neill, age 87, a resident of Tom, Okla., passed away Jan. 10, 2016 in his home.
He was born the son of Henry and Pallie Neill on Aug. 18, 1928 in Howe, Okla. He lived in McCurtain County most of his life. He was a farmer, rancher and sawmiller.

Visitation is Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016 in the Norwood-Nation Chapel from 6-8 p.m. Service will be Friday, Jan. 15, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Foreman at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Blackland Cemetery in Foreman.

Mrs. Billy Ann Parker Smith-Buck, age 79, a resident of Arkadelphia, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015 at the home of her son in De Queen.

She was born Jan. 7, 1936 in Lindale, Texas. She was a retired employee of the De Queen School District with 23 years service, as well as a homemaker. She was a member of the Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Grannis and also attended the Curtis Assembly of God Church at Curtis.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Grannis with Bro. Dennis Pruitt officiating. Burial followed in the Holly Grove Cemetery.
