New to the De Queen/Sevier County Chamber of Commerce, Southern Home Furniture and Interiors, 300 W. Collin Raye Dr. in De Queen, is owned by Sandy Huntsberger and opened in September of last year.
While the store has been there for 13 years, Huntsberger, who ran an interior design and remodeling business within the furniture store, took it over when the previous owner retired.
She remodeled the business, changed the name and changed the products, dealing exclusively now in more affluent furnishings while retaining her interior design roots with lighting, flooring and countertop products.
“It was kind of like a next step for me,” she said, noting that the furniture she carries is all American made. “We try to have a good, a better and the best. We want the best quality — high quality at a value.”
Huntsberger said that she believes her customers have been very happy with the quality of products the store carries, which includes sofas, leather chairs, tables and beds.
“They like the fact that everything is made in the USA and everything has a hardwood frame,” she said. “I feel like every furniture piece in here is a high quality piece of furniture.
Huntsberger said that they also sell Mayo Furniture, which is manufactured in Texarkana.
“We consider that local,” she said. “We’re actually able to go down there and pick up orders and save the customer a lot of money compared to other carriers.”
She said that they also have an extensive rug collection.
“What sets us apart is we have the ability, because of my design background, to help people choose their furniture and choose what works for their home,” she said.
She said that she joined the chamber because it was important to be a part of the community.
“I’ve always been community minded,” she said, noting that she has served on the De Queen School Board for 22 years, and that her daughter, Callie Miller, is a chamber vice president.
“The De Queen/Sevier County Chamber of Commerce is delighted to have Southern Home Furniture and Interiors as a member of the chamber family,” said chamber director Suzanne Babb. “We welcome businesses or individuals, and membership cost is based on the number of employees. If you would like to join, please contact the chamber at 870-584-3225 or email@example.com.”
