Horatio Kindergarten registration April 8-11

Horatio Elementary School will have Kindergarten registration Monday, April 8 through Thursday, April 11 from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. in the elementary office. Your child must be five years of age on or before August 1 in order to be eligible to enroll in kindergarten.

Parents must provide the following records to complete registration requirements: birth certificate, immunization record and Social Security card.

 

Workday at Mt. Ida scheduled for Saturday

There will be a workday at the Mt. Ida Cemetery Saturday, April 13 beginning at 9 a.m. In case of rain on April 13, an alternate date is set for Saturday, April 20.

 

Ben Lomond fish fry to be held April 13

Ben Lomond Cemetery annual fish fry will be held Saturday, April 13 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Ben Lomond Community Center, 448 Wilson Creek Road in Ben Lomond. Please bring a dessert and cash/check donation for the cemetery fund.

 

Valley Cemetery Board to meet on Saturday

Valley Cemetery Board will hold its annual meeting Saturday, April 13 at 2 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Gillham Methodist Church.

 

City to close Good Friday

The city of De Queen will be closed Friday, April 19 in observance of Good Friday. The trash schedule for the week of April 15 will be: Monday and Tuesday will remain the same, Thursday will be picked up on Wednesday and Friday will be picked up on Thursday.

 

Lockesburg egg hunt

An Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the Ida Margaret Coulter Stone Park in Lockesburg Saturday, April 20 at 4 p.m. Participants must be one-year-old to 12-years-old.

 

Give blood

LifeShare Blood Center has the following community blood drives scheduled for April:

April 12 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Pilgrim’s Pride, 401 S. 3rd Street, De Queen,.

April 19 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Mitchell Medical, 155 Highway 71 North, De Queen.

April 19 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Walmart, 926 East Collin Raye Drive, De Queen.

April 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at De Queen High School, 1803 West Coulter Drive, De Queen.

LifeShare Blood Centers is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. To sign up to donate or for more information call 903-794-3173. New Center location is 4020 Summerhill Road, Texarkana, Texas.

 

Defensive driving class

A smart driver defensive driving class will be held Thursday, April 18 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Sevier County Library, located at 200 W. Stilwell in De Queen. Certificate fees will be $15 for AARP members with an active membership number. You will need to bring the card with you to receive the discount. Non-member fees are $20. Job Fair April 18

DQ Primary School will have pre-registration for Kindergarten May 1

De Queen Primary School will have Kindergarten Pre-registration on Wednesday May 1, 2019 in the De Queen Primary School cafeteria. The hours for this registration will be from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. Students must be five years old on or before August 1, 2019 to be eligible to attend kindergarten for the 2019--2021 school year. Items to bring with you to this registration are as follows: Birth certificate, Social Security Card, Immunization Record, Proof of Address (ex:  a utility bill). Students will be required to have a physical before school starts in August and you may bring a copy of the physical if your child already has one. Become a CASA  volunteer

At this time a child in foster care needs your help. You will be the person who will listen when no other person can, you will advocate for the best interest of these children in court, at school, and in the community. You will help them find a safe permanent home. You can support a child who has been abused and/or neglected. Become a volunteer with CASA!
