Provo Community Christmas Potluck
Santa Claus Saturday, Dec. 14 at 5 p.m.
Bring your family and friends and your specialty dish for a community potluck starting at 5 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive at 6 p.m. with goody bags for the kids and ready to take pictures. Our community has been hit hard recently. Let’s take this opportunity together to heal and grow as a community.
Fair Association annual meeting
The Sevier County Fair Association will have their Annual meeting Dec. 10t at 6:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds with the election of fair board members, followed by the December monthly meeting and the election of officers. Public is invited to attend.
Customer Appreciation Day
Bank Of Lockesburg will hold Customer Appreciation Day on Friday, Dec. 6. Refreshments will be served from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and Santa will be at the bank from 3-4:30 p.m.
Santa and refreshments after Lockesburg parade
Bank of Lockesburg will have a hot chocolate/punch table set up in front of the bank during the Lockesburg Christmas parade. Theywill start serving at 3:30 p.m. Also, when Santa finishes the parade he will be making a stop at the bank parking lot.
Genealogical Society meeting
The Sevier County Genealogical Society will meet on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 10 a.m., at the Museum Annex.
The program will be about Dr. James Wilson, who was one of early Ben Lomond settlers.
Donuts with Santa
On Dec. 21, from 9-11 a.m., HealthCARE Express will be hosting Donuts with Santa at their location at 1021 W. Collin Raye Dr., De Queen. Parents can bring their children to the clinic to enjoy donuts with Santa, free of charge. They can then stick around after donuts for festive crafts and opportunities to take pictures with Santa.
The Salvation Army’s annual Christmas season bell ringing at Walmart, will run through Christmas Eve. They are getting a sizeable number of churches, civic organizations and government related people to help sponsor and staff this daily activity, but there is always a need for more ringers. Each year a good bit of money is raised because of this activity and it all stays local so as to provide funds for people’s needs and emergencies. Border Lows Campout
The “Border Lows”, a Local Chapter of “Loners on Wheels” (lonersonwheels.com) will be having their monthly campout, Dec. 11-15 at: Texarkana RV Park ($25/night for camping fee) 5000 US Hwy 59 Texarkana, Texas. 903-306-1364
They will have a Christmas gift exchange. So bring a gift around $10.

Christmas Open House
Celebrate the holidays with the staff at Cossatot River State Park-Natural Area, Dec. 14, 6-9 p.m. at Cossatot River State Park Natural Area. Bring your kids to share their Christmas wish with Santa Claus. Enjoy spectacular decorations in the Visitor Center and the trail of lights outside. Other activities available include a Christmas movie, a craft, face painting and a chili dinner served by the Nazarene Church’s youth group. Donations for the meal will be accepted. Popcorn and hot cocoa will also be available.

Monthly community lunch and events
Horatio First Assembly of God Church Joy Fellowship Ministries hosts a community lunch on the third Saturday of each month at the J.L. Walker Fellowship Hall from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome, there is no charge. Sevier County Historical Museum, 717 Walter J. Leeper Drive.
Regular entertainment events each month include a variety show on the third Saturday beginning at 6 p.m. features local talent and occasionally showcases special guests. There is a $2 charge to help cover the museum’s expenses.
Gospel singing on the third Saturday beginning at 6 p.m. at no charge and everyone is welcome to participate. The museum strives in this way to keep traditions alive. The museum welcomes interested musicians and performers.
Become a CASA volunteer
At this time a child in foster care needs your help. You will be the person who will listen when no other person can, you will advocate for the best interest of these children in court, at school, and in the community. You will help them find a safe permanent home. You can support a child who has been abused and/or neglected. Become a volunteer with CASA!
