Courthouse and landfill closed President’s Day

The Sevier County Courthouse and County Landfill will be closed Monday, Feb. 17 in observance of Presidents Day and will resume normal hours of operation on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

 

Food bank for county residents

Harvest Regional Food Bank TEFAP USDA Commodity Mobile Pantry is coming to Sevier County on Wednesday, Feb. 26 from 10 a.m. to noon. at 304 S. Pennock St.. Horatio. TEFAP USDA commodity pantry boxes will be provided to the first 120 qualifying households. Must be a resident of Sevier County. Photo identification and proof of address required.

President’s Day hours for De Queen

The city of De Queen will be closed Feb. 17 in observance of Presidents’ Day.

The trash schedule routes for the week of Feb. 17 will be as follows:

Monday will be picked up on Tuesday.

Tuesday will be picked up on Wednesday.

Thursday and Friday will  remain the same.

Cossatot Volunteer Fire Department Annual Fish Fry

Cossatot Volunteer Fire Department is having their annual mmbership drive and Fish Fry on Saturday, March 28 starting at 5 p.m, at 1930 Hwy. 70 East in De Queen. 

The meal includes fish, hushpuppies, fries, cole slaw and pinto beans. Cost is $40 per household/911 address (for your membership) or $10 a plate. Pay your membership dues/911 address at the Fish Fry and get up to three plates free. Any and all donations will be accepted and appreciated. Harmony will be here again for entertainment. If you are not able to attend, mail your membership dues to Cossatot VFD, 1930 Hwy. 70 East, De Queen, AR 71832. 

Free movie screening

Free movie screening of Miss Virginia, an inspiring film about a mother’s fight for her son's education. Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 4 p.m. UA Cossatot Skilled Trades Building, 183 College Drive, Weyerhaeuser Room. RSVP to info@thereformalliance.org, *Put "De Queen Showing" in the subject line.

ServSafe training

ServeSafe will be holding a food safety training class on March 9-10 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at UA Cossatot Adams Building, 183 College Drive in De Queen. Pre-registration is required at least 14 days prior to the class. Contact the Sevier County Extension Office at (870) 584-3013 for a registration form. ServeSafe offers traiing and certification for the ServeSafe Food Handler, ServeSafe Manager and ServSafe Insructor & Proctor programs.   

 

G.O.T. T.I.M.E. Bible-based recovery

Every Tuesday: G.O.T. T.I.M.E. Bible-based recovery and support group meets at 6:30 pm in the fellowship hall of the Methodist Church in Lockesburg.

 

Become a CASA volunteer

At this time a child in foster care needs your help. You will be the person who will listen when no other person can, you will advocate for the best interest of these children in court, at school, and in the community. You will help them find a safe permanent home. You can support a child who has been abused and/or neglected. Become a volunteer with CASA!
