Genealogist to be at library on Thursdays
Ricky Reed, an amateur genealogist from Texarkana, will be at the Sevier County Library and Museum every Thursday in June, to help people who would like help researching their family tree. He will also be researching southern Sevier County history. You may call him at (870) 773-1747.
AARP Drivers Course
An AARP Defensive Drivers Course will be held in Lockesburg on Sunday, July 8 from 1-5 p.m. at 115 East Hickory.
Fees are $15 for AARP members with an active membership number. Bring your card to receive a discount. Non AARP members fee will be $20. To register call 870-584-6120.
Veterans Town Hall meeting will be held Wednesday, July 11 at 10 a.m. at the Adams Building on the De Queen campus of Cossatot College, University of Arkansas. Tell us what you think.
Homecoming July 15 at Green’s Chapel
Green’s Chapel Methodist Church annual homecoming will be Sunday, July 15, 2018.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. with Carroll Jackson, speaker. Lunch will follow at noon in the fellowship hall. Fellowship hall will also be open Saturday, July 14.
Fish fry fundraiser
Cerro Gordo Cemetery Association will host a fish fry fundraiser Saturday, July 21 at the Cerro Gordo Fire Department. Serving will begin at 6 p.m. Eat in or take-out is available. All monies raised go towards the upkeep of the cemetery.
St. Barbara to begin summer food program
St. Barbara Catholic Church is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability.
There will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Meals will be provided at Saint Barbara Catholic Church, Pastoral Center, 503 W. De Queen Ave. in De Queen June 13 through August 10 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 4-6 p.m.
