Annual Pie Auction at Old New Hope Church

Old New Hope Church will hold it’s annual Pie Auction and Supper on Saturday, June 9. A potluck supper will be available by donation so bring your favorite food to go with the meat that will be provided. The proceeds will go towards the upkeep of the church and cemetery.

The Bill Powers Band will start playing at 5 p.m. and the pie auction will start at 6 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy visiting with friends and family.

The church is located on Ladd Bridge Road just off of Greens Chapel Road (about five miles north of Hwy 70). 

 

New dates listed for reading program at De Queen Library

June is the “Summer Reading Program” month with programs June 13, 20, 27. On June 6, at 10 a.m., we began our “Libraries Rock” program with Dixie Hill from Arkansas Game and Fish. Dixie presented “Birds of Arkansas”. Each Wednesday there will be lots of fun, games and prizes for the kids.

Don’t forget all of our many wonderful services such as, notary, fax, copy, scan to email, free Internet access and much, much more. Stop in your local library today.

June blood drives

LifeShare Blood Center has the following community blood drives in May and June:

June 15, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Walmart, 926 E. Collin Raye Drive, De Queen.

June 16, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Keith Wester Memorial Drive, 708A E. Collin Raye, De Queen.

June 26, 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at De Queen Cuffs & Hoses, 220 N. 2nd Street, De Queen.

LifeShare Blood Centers is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. To sign up to donate or for more information call 903-794-3173

 

Genealogist to be at library on Thursdays

Ricky Reed, an amateur genealogist from Texarkana, will be at the Sevier County Library and Museum every Thursday in June, to help people who would like help researching their family tree. He will also be researching southern Sevier County history. You may call him at (870) 773-1747.

 

St. Barbara to begin summer food program

St. Barbara Catholic Church is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. 

There will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Meals will be provided at Saint Barbara Catholic Church, Pastoral Center, 503 W. De Queen Ave. in De Queen June 13 through August 10 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 4-6 p.m.
