CASA golf scramble

First annual CASA (Court  Appointed Special Advocates for Children) Spring golf scramble will be held Saturday, May 11 at De Queen Country Club. Check-in is at 7:30 a.m. with tee-off at 9 a.m. Sponsorships are available. Three person teams, $225 per team or $75 per person. T-shirt and lunch will be provided and awards will be presented. Bring you own cart, limited carts available.

Contact CASA at 479-243-9277 to register, become a sponsor or for more information. All proceeds will benefit abused and neglected children in our area.

 

Gillham EHC to meet

The Gillham Extension Homemakers Club will meet in the home of Judy Van-Hamilton, (288 Tower Road, Gillham) Friday, May 10 at 2 p.m. The program will be on purging things. Snacks will be served during the meeting. Everyone is welcome to join the meeting. For more information contact Judy 214-707-1495 or Terrie 870-784-1991.

 

Junior High 9th grade registration meeting

A junior high 9th grade registration meeting for 2019-2020 School Year, will be held on May 14 at 6 p.m. in the Jr. High cafeteria. You can discuss 2019-2020 student class schedule, you will be able to make class changes, and evaluate student success plans.

 

Regional Library board meeting

The Tri-County Regional Library System  Board of Trustees will meet for their quarterly meeting on Tuesday, May 14 at 5 p.m. at the Sevier County Library-De Queen Location.

 

Gillham VFD barbecue

The Gillham Volunteer Fire Department annual fundraising barbecue dinner will be held Saturday, May 18. Meal of pork, chicken, potato salad, cole slaw and beans will be provided by donation. The band Harmony will provide music. Meal starts at 4 p.m. and auction will follow at 5:30 p.m.

Become a CASA  volunteer

At this time a child in foster care needs your help. You will be the person who will listen when no other person can, you will advocate for the best interest of these children in court, at school, and in the community. You will help them find a safe permanent home. You can support a child who has been abused and/or neglected. Become a volunteer with CASA!
