Program on Essential Oils to be presented at Gillham EHC meet

The Gillham Extension Homemakers club will be meeting Thursday, May 10 at the home of Terrie Jacobs. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. with lunch following. “Border Lows” set monthly camp out

Youth group to host Mother’s Day banquet

A Mother’s Day banquet, hosted by Lighthouse Church youth group, will be held Saturday, May 12 at 5 p.m. at the church in Lockesburg.

The menu will consist of grilled chicken, beans, potato salad, roll or mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, roll. Dessert will be banana pudding. Cost is $5 per plate. Seating is limited. Umpire FFA and FCCLA chicken dinner

Umpire FFA and FCCLA will host a chicken dinner, dessert and drink, Friday May 18, 6 p.m.at the Umpire Volunteer Fire Department. Cost is $5 a plate. There will be a Student Worker Auction and Dessert Auction. For more information contact Umpire School at  870-583-2141


May blood drives

LifeShare Blood Center has the following community blood drives in May:

May 30, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Pilgrim’s Pride, 401 South 3rd Street, DeQueen, AR.

Banquet to honor state families of fallen officers

Richard Curry, member of the Hells Valley Free RiderZ motorcycle club has announced that the first annual Arkansas Families of Fallen Officers banquet will be held Saturday, May 26 at the Eagles Club in Nashville.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. and the meal will consist of chicken and pork, with trimmings, and cost $6. A live auction will follow the meal.

The club raises funds for the families of officers who are killed in the line of duty, firefighters, law enforcement, K9’s and any first responders. Recently the club sent Arkansas State Police Trooper Kyle Sheldon a check for $1,000.

Anyone that wants to donate can do so at Diamond Bank in Nashville, AR. (Families of Fallen Officer’s fund) or by mailing a check to 896 Polk Meeting House Road, Nashville, AR 71852.
