Comments from public meetings and survey results will be used in developing a community development plan at a public meeting Thursday evening.

Lisa Taylor, the economic development officer for UA Cossatot, has announced that the planning meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 12, at 6 p.m. in the De Queen High School cafeteria.

This meeting is open to the public and registration is not required. However, anyone who chooses to register, will receive additional information related to their topic of interest. You may register line at https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/4f58f8b777b24c4a805223b117c459e7.

Sevier County is participating in Project ACCESS through the Arkansas Economic Development Institute (AEDI). After identifying needs and opportunities expressed by the public, the next step is to develop SMART goals and action plans. SMART is an acronym for goals that are: specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound.

While everyone would like to see instant results, strategic planning is a process that sets priorities and identifies common goals then allocates resources to produce the desired results. Fundamental decisions and actions will shape the future.

The economic development position is a cooperative effort between UA Cossatot, Sevier County Rural Development Authority, De Queen Industrial Park Public Facilities Board and Sevier County.
