March 2 is Read Across America Day and Dr. Seuss’s birthday and celebrations are being held on March 1. As always we have a wide variety of books to read to children. Bring your children to the library and read them a good book. 

On March 6 at 4 p.m., the De Queen Library will be holding a children’s “Tech Day” to honor Tech Week. Jon Chambers will hold a demonstration of small robots.  Robots will be running wild! All the children are learning coding in school and we have been fortunate enough to receive, from The Arkansas State Library, a box of robots. So we will be having fun and learning. You might even get to play with a robot!

De Queen Library will be closed March 8, for training. We are attending The Annual Children’s workshop in Ferndale Ark. We plan to bring lots of good and new ideas for the Summer Reading Program which will be in the month of June. 

Don’t forget those Domino games or other games going on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. for any of you folks that would like to come in and join in the fun. We also have other games if you want to participate. 

On March 2 at 10 a.m.  Miss Khloe, a Shih Tzu and Poodle mix dog, will be at the library during story time. Ms. Amy will read “ Ed and Fred Flea” by Pamela Duncan Edwards.   On March 16 at 10 a.m.  

Dixie Hill with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will be doing a program called “All About Alligators”.  She will bring a real baby alligator.  There will be a story time about an alligator named Allie and the book is “May I Please Have a Cookie”.  On Tuesday morning at 10 a.m., you can come and play a game of Scrabble.  We also have our Dominoes game on Thursday mornings at 10 —you can play regular or Mexican Train. We have purchased a set of double 15 dominoes.

We have gotten several best seller’s on the shelf and several new books and movies to choose from.  Stop by and see what we have to offer. Our hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to noon and then 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to noon.  Stop by any time.

On Saturday, March 9, the “That’s My Story and I’m Stickin’ to It” Book Club will meet at the Lockesburg Library to discuss the novel, “Virgil Wander,” by Leif Enger at 10 a.m.

Lockesburg Library’s children’s library programs that are planned for Thursdays at 1 p. m. in March will be: “Happy Birthday! Dr. Seuss”, “Pi Day”,“How To Catch a Leprechan” and “Passports / Brazil”.

An adult program “Tea and Poetry” will be held March 23 at 10 a.m. Those present will be served tea and enjoy poetry selections from the library’s collection.

Gillham Library has new on the shelf: “Liar Liar” by James Patterson and Candice Fox and “Once a Liar” by A. F. Brad.  We will have a Story Time and Craft Day on Saturday, March 16, at 2 p.m.
