There were two emergencies in the Cliffs last week, but they were both solved without injuries. The emergency team was needed for one and the deputy sheriff was needed for the second one. We are fortunate enough to have both services in the area that are able to respond. That is a great relief. We thank them for their services.

The people on our sick list are improving and gradually getting back to their everyday chores. We are still praying for our bereaved families and for their strength during their time of grieving. Prayers are requested for Quan Maxwell and for myself. I am still recovering from a hip replacement. The therapist came this morning and gave me a good workout. She said it was my best one yet. Hopefully I will be walking and driving on my own soon. Thank you.

The big news is the Brewers welcomed a new baby girl in their household a couple of weeks ago and everyone is so excited. I will be able to give her name as soon as I talk to the mother. I am excited because I love babies and delight in their development. We will all spoil her, behind her mother’s back of course.

The New Zion Baptist Church in De Queen celebrated its 156th anniversary last Sunday. The pastor is Rev. Carl Henderson. We pray for many more years in the Lord’s service.

The Piggee Memorial Baptist Church will celebrate its anniversary on the first Sunday in October. Get ready for a great fellowship and come and share. Rev. Richard Dixon is pastor.

Christian Refresher: Galatians 3:8-14 KJV

And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, in thee shall all nations be blessed.

So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is everyone that continue not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hanged on a tree.

That the Blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through Faith.

The great thing to remember is that, though our feelings come and go, His love for us does not. -- C.S. Lewis
