We had a rainy Sunday night in the Cliffs this week and it was still raining Monday morning. It seems like the weather is finally turning toward the early winter. Winter is one of my favorite seasons in the South. Meaning it is never as cold as the northern cities experience. I have had the opportunity to experience both and I love both.
Piggee Memorial Church had its regular service on Sunday and was well attended. Many of the rural churches are experiencing low attendance due to the senior membership and few younger people in the attending areas. Some are forced to close their doors, which speaks to the population of the communities as a whole. I am sure God has a plan for each community. I am sad to report that the Mount Zion Church, White Cliffs, closed it’s doors due to demise membership in 2018.
Virginia Scott is home from a short trip. We had dinner together on Sunday. She had a safe trip and will be back to work on Monday.
Thanks to Erma Ruth Carver, and her friend from Falls Chapel, who sent me word that they enjoy the White Cliffs news. You may call me if you have news from your community. We are close enough to share.
M.D. Deloney is still up and about looking after the church and its sick members. He is still able to drive and get around on his own. We know that somebody is keeping an eye on him.
I got this idea for Thanksgiving visitors and grandchildren. I took down my old Scrabble game in hope that we can spend time together instead of playing electronic games. I will let you know how it turns out. I am thinking that we have to plan purposefully to get the best out of what we want.
Prayers are requested for the following: Frank Walker, Goldie Wilson, George Ware, Price Savage, Beneather Graves, Ruby Robertson, Sharon Smith, Berthine Patt, Danté Crosslin, and the family of Doris White, Marsha Liddell, Jarrod Maxwell.
Christian Refresher: Hebrews 11:1, 2, 3, 6 The Amplified Bible
Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things (we) hope for, being the proof of things (we) do not see and the conviction of their reality (faith perceiving as a real fact what is not revealed to the senses).
For by (faith - trust and the holy fervor born of faith) the men of the old had divine testimony borne to them and obtained a good report.
By faith we understand that the worlds (during the successive ages) were framed (fashioned, put in order, and equipped for their intended purposes) by the word of God, so that what we see was not made out of things which are visible.
But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must (necessarily) believe that God exist and that He is the rewarded of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him (out).
Faith in God gives Christians the absolute confidence that He is working for good in our lives even when all the evidence and emotions point to what is bad in our lives. -- Leith Anderson
