De Queen High School students in grades 9th through 11th from Ms. Rogers’ and Ms. Irvan’s classes,  learned real-life lessons about money management as part of the “Get Real — Here’s the Deal” program.

“The simulation gives them the opportunity to experience their future in a financial decision-making mode,” said Janet Cantrell, county extension agent family and consumer sciences. “Youth are encouraged to make wise financial lifestyle decisions — similar to those faced each month by adults.”

Participants move from station to station, making decisions based on their family size and affordability.

“Our stations were operated by 12 community members representing various sectors of services and businesses,” Cantrell said.

The program is provided by the Sevier County Cooperative Extension Service.
