Jordan Rogers and David Serrano spoke to the De Queen Rotary Club about their experiences at Arkansas Boys and Girls State.

Arkansas Boys and Girls State are an immersive civics education program designed for young men and women who have completed their junior year of high school. Since the 1940s, these programs have been teaching future generations of Arkansas citizens to be actively involved in their communities and government at every level.

Each participant is assigned a mock political party, city and county. During the week, delegates will nominate and elect officials to various government positions. The program offers instruction on duties and responsibilities of citizens and public officials. After learning the function of their elected position, delegates function in that role for the remainder of the week.

Jordan is the daughter of Joseph and Carey Rogers. David is the son of David and Rosalba Serrano. Both students are seniors at De Queen High School.
