Jeff Brown won the city’s race for mayor after ballots were done bing counted on Tuesday. Brown 529 votes (68.17 percent) over Kelly Boyles, who had 168 votes (21.65 percent) and Gerald Burt who had 79 votes for (10.18 percent).
“I guess its official,” said the new De Queen mayor. “I’m excited and want to thank the Lord for me and my family to have this opportunity. I thank the voters of De Queen for putting their trust in me to lead the city into the future.”
In the Sevier County District 6 race, Angie Walker swept to victory with 291 votes (76.58 percent) over Victor Rojas who had 89 votes (23.42 percent).
The vote to elect De Queen Alderman to a four year term passed easily, garnering 490 votes for (63.39 percent), against 283 votes against (36.61 percent).
The county jail tax failed with 1,707 votes against (53.28 percent) and 1,497 votes for (46.72 percent)
