During August the Chalice Cupboard assisted 41 families in Sevier County, including 78 adults and 57 children, totaling 135 people.

Food added to the pantry weighed 1,458 pounds. This included 1,161 pounds of purchased food plus donations of 297 pounds. Churches (First Christian Church, First United Methodist and St. Barbara Catholic) gave 151 pounds. Individuals gave 65 pounds. Organizations (Sevier County Library) added 79 pounds. An anonymous source gave 2 pounds. Total food distributed weighed 1,358 pounds.

Individuals living in Sevier County who need food may receive help at the Chalice Cupboard at 315 N. 5th St. in De Queen on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-3:15 p.m. Food is given to those requesting assistance once each three-month period of the year.

Chalice Cupboard appreciates the support of everyone who helps in this service.

Suggested non-perishable items from those people who want to make a donation are cereal and canned fruit. Any money donated will be used for the purchase of food.

The bank balance on August 31, 2019 was $6,390.97.
