The County Extension Clubs met Friday for their quarterly council meeting. A devotional entitled "Colors of Fall" was given by Charlene Sullivan. In the business portion of the meeting, members voted to donate books to children through the "Imagination Library" as their Christmas community service project.
After the business meeting, county agent Janet Cantrell gave a two part program. The first part was on "The Mediterranean Diet", which is a lifestyle approach to good health that includes a balanced variety of foods and daily exercise. It is based on foods and beverages traditionally consumed by people living in countries along the Mediterranean Sea. After the presentation, members were treated to a sample of the food called "Greek yogurt panna cotta with honey glazed fruit".
The second part of the program was on ballot Issues for the upcoming elections. In 2004, the Home Extension service started providing members with non-partisan "fact sheets" for elections. At this meeting, members were given a 36-page informational booklet on the issues to be voted on. Each was discussed and further explained by Cantrell.
After the meeting, members enjoyed a pot luck meal.
