Yancy Guidry

On July 5, Sevier County Sheriff's Deputy Justin Gentry was dispatched to Highway 71 in regard to a reckless driver in a silver minivan. Gentry made contact with the minivan near the Dierks Junction, where he observed the car repeatedly crossing the yellow line.

After initiating a traffic stop, the driver was identified as Yancy Guidry, 50, from Grannis. Guidry gave consent for Gentry to search his vehicle, which led to the discovery of a .45 Ruger pistol under what appeared to be a bag containing methamphetamine along with a smoking pipe containing suspected methamphetamine residue.

Guidry was transported to the Sevier County Jail and charged with drug paraphernalia, possession of firearms by certain persons, possession of methamphetamine or cocaine with purpose to deliver, and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms. Guidry’s bond is to be determined.
