A Nashville man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after he had run off the road and took out a street sign on W. Locke Ave around 11:33 p.m. on Feb. 8.
De Queen Police Officer Brady Hanney, in his report, said that he arrived on the scene of the accident as Sgt. Wayne Baker was talking to the driver, identified as Jose Ignacio Luna, 21, near the roadside. Luna spoke limited English so a nearby citizen came and translated, telling police Luna said that a car had its headlight beams really high and that Luna has a vision problem and that's how it happened.
Luna said that he did not have a driver’s license and when Baker administered an alcohol measurement test, Luna blew a .13 on the roadside.
“Luna told us that he had two beers,” Hanney wrote, noting that Patrolman Michael Barnes saw a 30-pack of beer in the car.
Luna was arrested for driving while intoxicated and no driver’s license, and taken to the Sevier County Jail where he blew a .146 and then a .148.
