Legacy Initiatives recently received a donation of health care supplies under a grant from the Henry Schein Cares Health Kit Outreach program that enabled it to more effectively carry out its mission of enhancing De Queen and the surrounding areas through community development initiatives. The organization recently held its annual community health fair, providing free lab work to underserved individuals in De Queen.

The Health Kit Outreach program supports U.S.-based health professionals who provide volunteer care to at-risk and vulnerable populations globally.

Legacy Initiatives, in partnership with Lofton Family Clinic at The Wellness Center, Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation, and the Arkansas Minority Health Commission, hosted its Sixth Annual Free Community Health Fair on Sept. 19. The health fair has continued to provide free lab work yearly, including blood prostate cancer tests and cholesterol, thyroid, blood glucose, anemia, kidney/liver, and electrolyte checks.

“We are thankful for the Henry Schein Cares Health Kit Outreach program, which helped us to provide care to the largest number of people we have ever treated in a single day,” said Dr. Jason Lofton, medical director at Lofton Family Clinic and board member of Legacy Initiatives. “There were lots of smiles from both the participants and our staff, and we look forward to continuing our mission.”
