The Pilgrim’s facility in De Queen, recently hit a huge milestone: accumulating four million Safe Man Hours since May 9, 2017. The 1,400 Pilgrim’s De Queen team members celebrated on Nov. 7, with a hamburger lunch and the presentation of award jackets to all team members for their safety accomplishment.

The milestone came through the dedication and focus of staff from the entire De Queen/Nashville complex, which includes the De Queen processing plant and Nashville live operations facilities.

“We accomplished this goal through the hard work of all of our team members, who show their commitment to safety each and every day,” said Mark Gross, safety manager. “It all starts with engagement from the leadership team to provide a safe work environment for all of our team members, as well as to make sure we meet our own stringent safety standards. After all, safety isn’t just a priority — operating in a safe manner is a condition at Pilgrim’s.”

Pilgrim’s De Queen team members have truly engaged in this safety philosophy, to the point that it is now simply part of the culture at the plant, Gross said.

“The goal is and always has been to ensure that everyone leaves the plant in the same condition they arrived in,” Gross said.
