The University of Arkansas Cossatot and the Sevier County Economic Development Tourism Committee are excited to announce the launching of an official Sevier County Slogan Contest. The goal of the contest is to receive suggestions from Sevier County residents that would lead them to adopt a new promotional slogan, identifying icon and marketing concept for the Sevier County region.

During the past year, Sevier County residents have had the opportunity to participate in several surveys, community forums, and committee meetings with a common goal of planning for future economic growth in our region. The Sevier County Tourism Committee was formed as a result of this community planning process and has been working to identify tourism assets in the county. In fall 2018, efforts put forth resulted in the opportunity to participate in the CREATE Bridges (Create Bridges - Celebrating Retail, Accommodations, Tourism, and Entertainment by Building Rural Innovations and Developing Growth Economies) Tourism Development Initiative.

As our community members work to develop our tourism products (lodging, entertainment, retail, etc.), it has become evident that we need a vision for our future that includes a brand, or slogan, in order to market our region to potential tourists," committee officials said. "The Sevier County Tourism Slogan Contest is expected to identify an appropriate brand."

All residents, and only residents, of Sevier County, are encouraged to complete an entry. Additionally, the contest guidelines dictate one must be a current resident of Sevier County, must be 13 years of age or older, and only one entry per resident.

"The committee believes this is a great opportunity for families to dream and be competitive," a press release issued by the committee states. "Each family member should complete an entry. They also encourage teachers, human resources departments, group leaders, and presidents of clubs throughout the county to encourage participation through competition."

When developing your idea for a Sevier County Tourism Slogan, keep the following tips in mind: 1) Keep it short and simple; 2) Focus on what makes Sevier County different and appealing to tourists; 3) Make it timeless; 4) Make sure it stands alone, without additional explanation; 5) Consider a specific target audience; and 6) Most important — get input from your family and friends. Once you decide on your slogan, go to to submit your entry no later than 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2019. Entries may be made in the English or Spanish version of the same form for entry in the same contest.

"This is your chance to personally invest in the marketing and promotion of our community and the exciting days ahead," officials said. "The winner of the contest will receive a $500 cash prize, so everyone is encouraged to participate; lifelong residents and youth alike."
