On March 31 at around 2 p.m., Sevier County Sheriff’s Sgt. Greg Davignon was dispatched to a single vehicle accident near the intersection of Hwy. 70 West and Hwy. 70B. When he arrived at the accident, he observed that the driver, Lauren Jayne Graham, 17, was still in the vehicle because the door was wedged shut.

“We were able to get her door open and get her out of the vehicle,” Davignon said in his report. “She stated that she believed that her brakes had malfunctioned causing her to lose control of her vehicle and then strike a tree.”

The driver had minor cuts and bruises and was transported from the scene by her mother. Damage to the vehicle was estimated to be $12,000.
