Ms. Maria Zarate

Ms. Maria Guadalupe Zarate Arellano, age 69, a resident of Grannis, died Tuesday,

Oct. 9, 2018 from injuries received in an automobile accident in Polk County, Arkansas, near Iron Mountain.

She was born on Feb. 17, 1949 in Juventino Rosas Guanajuato, Mexico, to Cayetano Arellano and Catalina Zarate. She was a member of the Asamblea Apostolica de la fe en Cristo Jesus in De Queen. She was retired from Tyson Foods with 17 years service and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Samuel Zarate, a grandson, Jose Luis, a brother, Alfredo Zarate, and a sister, Antonina Zarate.

Survivors include six daughters, Juana Meza of Grannis, Rosalia Evans of Wickes, Virginia McCarley of Gillham, Leticia Bennett of Grannis, Cristina Estrada of Nashville, and Faviola Zarate of Grannis, three sons, Daniel Rodriquez of Little Rock, Juan Carlos Zarate, also of Little Rock, and Victor Zarate of Grannis; a brother, a sister, 28 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jose Chacon officiating. Burial will follow in the Grannis Cemetery, Grannis, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 12 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
