Mrs. Carla Ruelene Lowery-Holt

Carla Ruelene Lowery-Holt (affectionally called Sister) was born September 30, 1945 to the late Richard and Cleo Lowery in Horatio, Arkansas. The Lord called her home on December 30, 2020 in Wichita, Kansas. She accepted Christ and became a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church at an early age

Carla attended school at College Hill Elementary in Horatio, Arkansas, and Sevier County High in Lockesburg, Arkansas, graduating in the class of 1962. She continued her educational Journey at AM&N College, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Home Economics in 1966. Carla began a teaching career at Crossett, Arkansas, later moving to Phoenix, Arkansas and went into consumer merchandise management at JC Penny's for over 30 years.

She married Theodore (Ted) Holt on February 14, 1981. To this union, one son was born, Jamaal, her pride and joy. Carla's hobbies included sewing, cooking, and taking family vacations with her family. The true beats to her heart were her grandchildren JJ, Jordin. Ted and Carla moved to Wichita, Kansas where she was determined to find a permanent church home to serve God. That is where they both became dedicated, proud, and active members of Saint Mark United Methodist Church. Carla served in the church's library, a coordinator of the Senior Citizens Ministry, United Methodist Women Auxiliary, as well as, served on the Funeral Hospitality Committee.

Those awaiting her arrival to welcome her to eternal rest is her father and mother, four brothers, Wellanye, Donald, Ullacess, Richard Lee.

Throughout her life, she provided joy and happiness to all of her family and everyone she met. Laughter and kindness were her hallmark, her infectious smile and laughter filled the room.

She leaves to cherish her precious and unforgettable memories; devoted husband Ted, son Jamaal (Naiomi), of Dallas, Texas. Her bonus children Sedrick Holt of Dallas, Texas; Jemaine Bell of Atlanta, Georgia; and Hameed (Vern) Holt of Wichita, Kansas, who she loved dearly, and that love was truly reciprocated. Twelve grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two brothers Leonard of Killeen, Texas, Orville Lowery of New Orleans, Louisiana, one sister and best friend Bonnie Cox of De Queen, Arkansas, a devoted friend Robbie Jean Holt, a host of additional family and friends that will miss her dearly.

Services were held at Saint Mark United Methodist Church Friday, January 15, 2021. Gracious Host Pastor, Robert G. Johnson; Officiant Pastor, Yolanda White-Oliver.
