Mrs. Juanita Staggs

Mrs. Juanita Jeane Staggs, age 87, a resident of Horatio, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, in the Hospice of Texarkana, surrounded by family.

She was the third of six children born to I.C. and Thelma Lee Sage Stringfellow on Aug. 16, 1931, in Horatio. She was a member of the Horatio Assembly of God. She worked in jewelry sales at J.C. Penney for many years and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Hershel Stringfellow, R.J. Stringfellow and Delton Stringfellow; one sister, Nell Barnes; and one granddaughter, Caitlyn Rebecca Philemon.

Survivors include her husband of over 26 years, Ralph Staggs of Horatio; two sons, John D. Rogers, III of Houston, Texas and Patrick Rogers of Cypress, Texas; three daughters, Joy Smothers of Nacogdoches, Texas, Cynthia Rogers Tucker of Horatio and Sherri Philemon of Charlotte, N.C.; one sister, Loretta Reid of Horatio; as well as 25 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephew, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Gutierres and Bro. Doug Akin officiating. Burial will follow in the Clear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the funeral home.
