“I enjoyed myself” was Robbie C. (Bob) Slaton’s life motto. He was born in Lockesburg, Arkansas on May 17, 1927, to Dave S. and Gertrude (Corley) Slaton. He joined his Beloved Ruth in Heaven on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at the age of 91.
Known as Robbie, Pops, Dad, Grandpa, Grandpa Apple, Grandpa Bob, and “Oh, Bob!”, he loved God and family most of all. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a Teamsters member with a safe driving record for 25 years in Oklahoma City. Always the ultimate Razorback sports fan, he followed every team sport the University of Arkansas offered. He was also an avid gardener with a special green thumb. Mostly he was known for his sense of humor and spirit. There was always a laugh or a sparkle in his eyes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Irene Zachry; and his brothers, David Everett, James Herman and Charles Slaton. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Ruth M. Slaton.
He is survived by his son, David with wife, Sandi Slaton; daughter, Donna Slaton; and daughter, Deana Murray with husband, Dennis. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and beloved family. His Brighton Ridge family included many staff members, residents and their families.
Visitation was Sunday, April 28 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Nelson’s Chapel of the Springs in Eureka Springs and the funeral service was on Monday, April 29 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Steve Ward officiating. Interment followed at Eureka Springs Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service. Memorial donations may be made to your special charity.
