Horatio’s newest coach was on the sidelines for the first time when the Lions hosted Ashdown in a summer baseball game June 6.

Ethan Crocker will be an assistant in both baseball and football. His baseball duties are pitcher and catcher coach. “I’ve grown up playing against this program. It was hard to pass up being here,” he said.

A member of the Murfreesboro High class of 2009, Crocker spent one year at Connor State in Oklahoma before transferring to Arkansas Tech where he pitched for the Wonder Boys.

After graduating in 2014, he spent four years coaching baseball and football at Mount Ida.

He will be the defensive coordinator for Horatio football. He said he plans to install a 4-4 based defense with multiple variations. “It’s what we did at Mount Ida but in a different manner,” he said.
