RUSSELLVILLE -- The De Queen girls went 2-1 in the Holiday Hoops for Hunger tournament at Russellville Dec. 27-28.
The loss came when the Lady Leopards faltered in the second half of the opening game against Pottsville. DHS trailed 26-24 at intermission but scored only 16 points in the second half and lost 54-40.
Josie Burke scored 16 points and Maddie Martin 12 for De Queen. Ashlyn Chambers had five, Kennedy Winship three, Ashley Dykes three and Tatyana Tramble three.
In the second game the Lady Leopards downed Southside 64-42.
De Queen trailed 14-13 at the end of the first period but led 27-19 at the half and 48-27 at the close of the third.
Ashlyn Chambers put in 17 points, Ashley Dykes 14 and Kennedy Winship 13 for the Lady Leopards. Burke and Martin each tallied eight. Tatyana Tramble had four and Abby Ponce one.
Little Rock Central
Another second quarter surge for De Queen resulted in a 45-40 win over Little Rock Central.
LRC was up 15-11 to start the second, but trailed 23-18 at its close. A 13-11 third quarter padded the lead.
Maddie Martin hit four treys and scored 20 points. Ashley Dykes had three threes and scored 15. Ashlyn Chambers added five, Kennedy Winship three and Tatyana Tramble two.
