GREENWOOD — The De Queen senior boys went one and one at the Greenwood tournament.
DHS - Greenwood
The Leopards won their second straight game of the short season by edging the host team in the tournament 50-48.
The game was tight all the way with the first quarter score tied at 12-12. The Leopards led 19-17 at the half and 34-33 at the end of the third.
In the fourth, Weston Harp scored seven points. Will Dykes hit a trey. Devin Burgess and Logan Williamson each had a two pointer for a total of 16, one better than the Bulldogs.
Harp had 21 points in the game. Burgess scored 15. Jesse Parker and Dykes each added six and Williamson two.
The Leopards made five of 11 free throws and committed 16 fouls.
Greenwood’s J. Grimes scored 18 for the Bulldogs who had 15 fouls and made nine of 16 at the line.
DHS - Clarksville
Fouls played a role in the second round when the Leopards fell to Clarksville 64-45. De Queen had 22 fouls, including five each for Harp and Burgess. The Panthers had the same number of infractions, but a deeper bench.
Clarksville led 17-14 at the end of the first and 28-24 at the half then broke open the game with a 25-9 advantage in the third.
Dykes hit four treys and scored 18 points for De Queen. Williamson scored seven points, Burgess six, Harp four, Parker four and Luke Reed three. Gustavo Zamora had a 3-pointer. The Leopards were 10 of 21 at the foul line.
Clarksville’s C. Clark hit 10 of 11 free throws and scored 19 points. The Panthers sank 16 of 22 at the line.
