Dierks – Horatio went one and two in the Dierks junior high tournament.
Horatio’s first round game was a mismatch over Cossatot River.
The final was 34-4. Quarter scores were 9-4, 24-4 and 34-4.
Elli Sidwell scored 12 points for Horatio. Gracie Thigpen had nine, Natalie Dorsey six, Presley Sprick three, Paige Williamson two and Hayden Billings two.
Horatio lost in the second round 39-36 to Caddo Hills.
Horatio started fast to lead 19-7 at the end of the opening period with Sidwell putting in 11 points.
Caddo came back in the second to get within 25-17 by the half. A 13-6 Indian run through the third cut the lead to 31-30.
Alyssa Hearn scored six of Caddo’s nine points in the fourth when the lead changed hands.
Sidwell and Dorsey each had 15 points for Horatio. Bella Baker added four and Thigpen two.
Hearn led all scorers with 19.
Horatio had 10 fouls and made three of eight free throws. Caddo Hills had 11 infractions and hit five of eight at the line.
Horatio’s boys game was another mismatch with Cossatot River, in the other direction. The Eagles took this one 52-16. Quarter scores were 20-7, 33-7 and 47-9.
Ethan Hudson had seven points for the Lions, Graham Banhart four, Landon Emerson three and Kevin Quintera two.
Aiden McKenzie and Connor McCormick each scored 13 for Cossatot.
