Horatio junior girls

The Horatio junior girls won their district tournament title in addition to the regular season crown.

 

DIERKS — The Horatio junior girls won their conference tournament with a 57-35 defeat of Acorn Feb. 7.

Horatio took a 16-8 lead in the first quarter and was never threatened. The lead had grown to 29-14 by the half and 49-27 by the end of the third period.

Dani Beck had 10 points before halftime and led all scorers with 23 for Horatio. Teresa Chavez and Mallory Marshall also scored in double figures with 12 and 11 points respectively. Kate Baker added six and Lauren Emerson five.

Horatio had 10 fouls and made 16 of 32 free throw attempts.

Acorn had 22 fouls and sank two of three at the line. The Tigers were led in scoring by Butterfield and Blair who had 16 and 11 points respectively.
