It was the last home game for eight Leopards when De Queen hosted Malvern for Senior Night Feb. 5.
The Lady Leopard seniors are Esmeralda Balderas, Abby Dykes, Ashley Dykes, Citlally Perez, Erica Resendiz, Tatyana Tramble and Kennedy Winship.
Hayden Harp and Edward Garcia are the senior members of the boys team.
When the teams played Jan. 11, De Queen led by only two points at the start of the third quarter before winning 48-31. This time it was not close at all.
De Queen jumped out to a 13 point lead in the first quarter and won 60-28.
Ashlyn Chambers got the home team started with seven points in the initial period. Tatyana Tramble added four. The first quarter ended with De Queen leading 18-5.
In the second, Josie Burke put in 10 points, and Abby Dykes hit a pair of threes as the gap expanded to 40-14 by the half.
Kennedy Winship put in four points in the third period. Citlally Perez scored four and Ashley Dykes added a three. The lead was up to 58-21 to start the fourth.
Winship, Burke and Chambers each finished the game with 10 points. Maddie Martin had seven. Tramble, Abby Dykes and Ashley Dykes each scored six. Perez added five.
De Queen had four fouls and made five of 14 foul shots. Malvern had 10 fouls and missed both chances at the line.
Malvern’s scoring was led by Tiffany Monk with nine points.
The Leopards made a run in the third quarter, but Malvern’s depth made the difference down the stretch as the visitors took an 84-59 decision.
Malvern took a 16-12 first period lead and expanded it to 43-32 by the halftime break. The Leopards started the second half with a scoring streak.
The lead was still seven points when Will Athey hit a three pointer to get the Leopards within 45-41. Weston Harp scored and was fouled. He made the free throw to cut the gap to 45-44 with 4:58 in the period.
A Malvern bucket raised the lead to three, but Harp made another foul shot to make the count 47-45.
Hayden Harp put back a rebound to tie score at 47-47 with 3:40 in the third.
A 5-0 run put the momentum back with the visitors who went on to lead 58-51 by the end of the third. They led 63-53 when Logan Williamson hit a trey with 6:06 to play. Will Dykes sank two free throws at 4:58 to cut the lead to 63-58.
De Queen could get no closer. Malvern began to pull away then sealed the win with eight points from the free throw line in the last 2:39.
Weston Harp scored 23 for De Queen. Williamson had 18 points, all on three pointers. Hayden Harp had 11 points. Athey had nine, Davin Burgess six and Dykes two.
De Queen had 18 fouls and made 10 of 17 foul shots. Malvern had 19 fouls and made 21 of 28 free throws.
The visitors were led by Dakovan Blackmore with 38 and Aaron Jones with 23.
