The Leopards will make their next to last road trip of the season when they travel to Hot Springs Friday.
De Queen will face a Trojan team trying to regain past glory under second year coach Darrell Burnett. Hot Springs is 3-2 on the year and 2-0 in the 5A South after trouncing Hope 51-7 last Friday. The previous week Hot Springs had its biggest win in the last half decade when it upset Little Rock McLelland to open conference play.
The Trojan defense is led by linebacker Devon Johnson who had eight tackles against Hope.
After sputtering in the non-conference part of the schedule, the Hot Springs offense has come to life behind sophomore quarterback Isaac Shelor who threw three touchdown passes in the Hope game. The Trojans’ go-to guy is 185 lb. Malik Brewer who had three TD’s on the ground and had two more through the air against the Bobcats.
Friday’s game at Hot Springs is set to kick off at 7 p.m. It will be homecoming night for the Trojans.
