Boys soccer

The De Queen boys soccer team is the 4A South tournament champion.

ARKADELPHIA — The Leopards won a title and a runner-up award at the at the AAAA South soccer tournament at Arkadelphia May 4.

Senior Boys

Edward Garcia

In the boys title game the Leopards downed Robinson 3-0.

The first goal took a while. The first half clock was down to 15:47 when Jose Martinez scored from 10 yards out with an assist provided by Sebastian Bahena.

Ten minutes later at 5:40 Martinez headed the ball to a wide open Alejandro Lerma for a five yard shot for the second goal.

Charlie Pacheco

The final goal came before the second half was a minute old. Bahena scored off a corner kick by Chris Castellanos with 39:01 left in the game.

Geovany Salgado

The closest the Senators came to scoring was a 25 yard free kick with 33:35 remaining in the game. Edward Garcia blocked the free kick, then blocked a second kick off the rebound.

Adolpho Ortiz

Adolpho Ortiz of De Queen keeps his eyes on the ball even while losing his footing in the match with Robinson.

 

De Queen - Mena 

In the semi-finals De Queen downed Mena 2-0.

Both goals were scored by Lerma. Bahena provided an assist on the first and Martinez on the second.

Edward Garcia made two saves.

 

Lady Leopards

The De Queen girls soccer team is the 4A South tournament runner-up.

There were few De Queen highlights in the girls final. The Lady Leopards again lost to top ranked Pulaski Academy by 8-0.

The big physical Bruins got their first goal on a 25 yard free kick nine minutes into the game. They scored again three minutes later and led by six at the half.

Sara Victoriano

De Queen’s best chance for a goal missed when Sara Victoriano’s kick bounced off the cross bar with 1:08 left in the first half.

 

De Queen - Arkadelphia

Cristal Cuadra

Lady Leopards Cristal Cuadra, Miryanna Rafael and Nayeli Rojas pursue the ball.

De Queen reached the final with a 7-0 win over Arkadelphia.

Sara Victoriano scored four goals for the Lady Leopards. Jooana Guerrara posted one goal. Crystal Cuadra had one goal. Daphne Villeda also scored.  Natalie Martinez had an assist.

Abby Ponce stopped 12 Arkadelphia attempts to score.
