HHS – Harmony Grove

In their first game the Lions prevailed 2-1 in a pitching duel between Horatio’s Dakota Frachiseur and Brad Launius of Camden Harmony Grove.

Frachiseur gave up only two hits, thanks in part to a diving catch by centerfielder Garet Wilson that robbed Harmony Grove in the second inning. In the third it was Wilson’s bat that drove in the first run.

Trey Pickett led off with a single to left. Blake Pickett’s bunt moved the runner to second. After Frachiseur struck out, Wilson doubled to left for an RBI.

Lion Orey Chandler then got a piece of a pitch that sent the ball on a bunt-like path toward first. The catcher’s off target throw sailed past the first baseman into right field. Wilson scored. Chandler reached third, but Wyatt Marshall struck out to end the inning.

The Hornets scored their run in the sixth. C. Everett doubled to left. A bunt by A. Ruelas was mishandled by Frachiseur and Everett scored.

Frachiseur fanned 10 and walked none. Lanius struck out six and walked one.
