Former Lady Leopard Tatyana Tramble of De Queen fights for a rebound in the UA-CCC women’s first game.

 

LOCKESBURG — The UA Cossatot Community College women’s basketball team made its debut in the Lockesburg gym with a 78-62 win over Jarvis Christian College of Hawkins, Tex.

Cossatot’s first point came on a free throw by Kailynne Chaney of Royse City, Tex. Amber Weatherspoon of Star City hit three of four at the line and scored seven points in the first period which ended with the home team up 17-13.

The first trey came from number 3 Chelsea Green of Marksville, La. Green connected on a pair of rainbow three pointers en route to a dozen points in the second quarter. Cossatot led at the half by 37-28.

Five players scored in the third as the lead grew to 59-44. Weatherspoon put in six points, MacKenzie Cardenas five, Green five, Chaney four and De Queen’s Tatyana Tramble two.

Green and Chaney each hit two more treys in the fourth quarter when Cossatot added a final 19 points.

Green had five treys and a total of 27 points to lead the scoring. Weatherspoon put in 17 points. Chaney had three threes and 11 points. Cardenas finished with 10 points, all in the second half.

Jasmine Ellison scored six points. Tramble and Kyaire Jackson each added three.

For Jarvis Christian College, A. Hoage finished with 13 points, K. Thorn 11 and N. Ellis 10.
